Does anyone have experience with the buyback process? My Jeep has been at the dealer for 30 days for a transmission rebuild, and Jeep Cares is telling me it could be a couple more months before the parts are available. No eta, and I have 31 ahead of me waiting for this part (valve body). I've asked them to take one off of the line and they won't do it. Mine is a 2021 Overland with 6500mi on it.

Additionally I have a uconnect issue (won't connect to my phone) But they claim it's my phone's fault even though my phone works fine on any of the other gladiators on the lot. They are saying they won't replace the radio (Alpine pkg)

I live in Florida, bought it in Louisiana. I assume I need to follow the Louisiana lemon law process. Their law states 90 days, so I have 60 days to go. Just looking for some insight and experience from any of y'all who have ever dealt with it.

When do I start screaming for a replacement? Sucks paying my monthly payment for a vehicle I can't drive and don't know when I'll ever drive again.

Not that this helps you but all manufacturers right now are experiencing long delays in getting parts. If everyone experiencing issues with parts delays had their car bought back car manufacturers would be out of business. COVID has wreaked havoc on parts supplies. I see claims daily where customers have been in cars up to 6 months. They are paying for customers to be in cars and doing the best they can. I would guess it will be next year before parts supplies will get back to reasonable levels.

To play devil's advocate, Doesn't seem to be impacting new car assembly? They're spitting out new JTs like crazy.

90 days is the law. I will be taking advantage of it, I had my truck for a month. To begin with, it shouldn't need a new trans at 6k. That scares the crap out of me in of itself. Then add the fact that repairs are going to take months and months to complete? Nah.

You may be right as major parts purchasers, ie. Stellantis, will have more market clout to procure parts to meet manufacturing outputs and then allow the market to catch up assuming their needs are met.

That is ridiculous. If the manufacturer doesnt have the parts to Support their vehicles they shouldn’t continue building new ones Plain and simple. Manufacturers are using COVID excuse as a crutch to bide their time. If they’re able to get parts to build a litany of new ones they could easily procure the parts for a broken one. This is how class action lawsuits start. I’d tread carefully if I was running fca ot stellaris.

You should really contact a lawyer, one that can practice in both states, that is versed in lemon law cases. You might have to file in the state you are living in, and you might have to file in both states. You don't want to wait only to find you are following the wrong process.

The laws vary by state, and there are rules about how many issues, and how many repair trips, along with time out of service. If you are serious about the process, you need to get it started right away to protect your rights. If it is only one problem and one repair trip, even though it has been over thirty days, it may not go in your favor since they are trying to fix it and provided another vehicle to drive.

Agreed. Tired of the COVID excuse. It's exhausting. I am in a supply chain business and its all i hear all day.. If it were me, i'd be using this time as a reason to be better. If everyone is struggling to provide because of COVID, i'd be doing something different/bigger/better/more. But thats just me.

There are many parts on backorder that are effecting production of new vehicles for all manufactures. I know with Ford dealers are able to use what is referred to as next level assemblies and get new transmissions rather than wait for a part. You may want to speak to the dealer about that. FCA will be out over a thousand dollars just putting you in a rental car so you are not inconvenienced. I know it is better to have your own vehicle but is seems they are not leaving you stranded and in this case patience will be the best route and try not to get frustrated. I do know some customers are refunded a month of vehicle payment because they were not in their vehicle. You may check on that also.

I just asked about all of these things with FCA via email before you replied. We'll see what they say.

I am significantly inconvenienced. I do have a vehicle, but it's not the vehicle I'm making payments and insurance payments on. Luckily I'm not stranded thankfully.
