its a good time and i like the area; but its not particularly challenging unless you go out of your way to make it so.
Yep. Moab is epic but not because it's a never ending set of super hard stuff. Some people who have never been that see videos of super built Jeeps doing trails there I think assume it's extremely challenging.

EJS is a blast, don't get me wrong (been going for 12 years) -- but I've always had lots of fun outside of those weeks as well.

I went out the door for sticker ($55K) in a high tax state, got everything I wanted except the Trailcam. I am happy with the value for money. I'm freaking STOKED about the truck, though!

Ah, I get it. The rubis on the lot were that much more than the sport models on the lot. Yeah I can see that. All the rubicons I saw were pretty well optioned. Most were stickers around $55k-$58k.

Nope, woulda been upset if I got a rubicon because I would have been really limited in the travel trailer I bought.

Cap for rubi really limits to smaller model TT’s. Many of the nicer TT set ups are 6000-7000 loaded. Couldn’t legally tow them with a rubi or would be getting right close to that threshold. Max tow gets you just enough extra capacity it works.

yeah I think I was about the same. Can’t remember what the tax was but sticker was around 57 and got it down to 51, before taxes.

At this stage in my life with many years of hardcore rock crawling behind me, this JT purchase was the perfect solution to replace my older pickup truck while getting that Wrangler convertible and capable off roader all in one. I do plan to wheel my JT, however, I'm not into the hardcore trails that I used to be and so the utility and towing capabilities outweighed the "Off roading" in my case. Even if I were to go back to the serious wheeling, I think the Max Tow still offers a better package to build a great rig. I hear what the OP is saying that the take-offs from the Rubi are worth a lot more second hand, but honestly, I'd rather not go to the trouble of selling everything just to make a few bucks. I don't prefer the e-lockers and disconnect and would have definitely gotten rid of the sliders and upsized the wheels right off the bat anyway on the rubi.

No regrets. The Max Tow option fit my needs and budget. Back in early 2020, I was really holding off wanting the Diesel, but I was able to get everything I wanted at a great discount.

Spent a few hours cleaning the winter muck off today!

Absolutely have no MT regrets or Rubi envy. I specifically wanted the Max Tow for the axles, 4.10 gears, larger brakes and rear LSD. Lockers are just not an off road necessity in Florida and the other tech stuff is just more opportunity for something to go wrong. I wish the LSD on the MT was helical vs clutch style and would have loved to have them on both axles for better soft sand and wet road performance...that would have been the most amazing combo for my part of the world. When helical LSDs front and back become available I will take that plunge.

Why, or why not??
Absolutely not. You can add lockers to a Max Tow but you cannot add 35% more legal payload to a Rubicon.

Bought a 2020 Rubicon. Absolutely love it. My last truck was 17 years old and the one before that was 25 when I parked it.
I wanted the mechanicals, 4:10's, locking diffs, lower transfer case etc.. When I need it to pull of get somewhere, it means that it is an emergency. I wanted it ready to go out of the box with no time spent on modifications, minor upgrades are fine. My life simply doesn't allow for down time. I am not saying that it can't or won't have problems, I am just saying that it was designed to work as a system and I didn't have to do it.
Yup, a few extra bucks but less time invested. Time is the one thing that you can never get back once it's spent.

Is there a TSB on the e-locker problem? I'm not finding it. Surely if many Rubicon owners were experiencing e-locker problems there would be a TSB or downright recall.

Is there a thread in the forums that speak of this? How many is "all the people?"

Absolutely.

So mad I dont get to experience stock lockers failing.

JK.

Not at all. For almost $15k less I'm able to put better (imo) lockers and build it to spec and still be under a rubi.
