Watched a video the other day where they interviewed some Stellantis execs including the CEO. They are very disconnected from reality and it's almost scary. The CEO believes that their high prices are justified and people will buy them at those prices once they sit in it. Nevermind whether or not the customer can afford it or wants to spend that much; it basically sounded like their whole model is based on just getting people to sit in the vehicles and they will buy. Of course, what else can you expect from a CEO who pockets millions a year in salary? The UAW is on the right path for sure.
Makes me think of a quote from Lee Iacocca: "I'm not asking you to buy any car on faith. I want you to compare."

I've seen some people on here say that they were sold on the Gladiator after doing butt-in-seat comparisons between it and other mid-sizers. Will that still be true once the new Tacoma, Colorado, and Ranger are out?

Who knows. They are nice trucks I suppose, but some of the ugliest vehicles ever built IMO. Maybe I'm one of those niche people I keep hearing about in relation to the JT...wanted a Wrangler, need/want a truck, so a JT fit. Plus I can take the roof and doors off. It's been a blast, I have zero regrets.

I get that the CEO was probably making that product comparison argument, but I didn't take his comments that way. Oh well. I bought my JT used for quite a bit less than a comparable new one, so I'm happy.

Plus could you imagine trying to take the top off of a Tacoma??
The local FD can get the roof off of the Tacoma quickly. Putting it back on though............

…. Let’s get real

…. I predict it’s Hurricane or Hemi time for a some what limited halo type package… to bring them back quickly into the conversation
And the engine options would do it, by tea time this afternoon. But…it’s Stellantis we’re talking about.

I won’t hold my breath.

I bet the 4xE and Hurricane engine options will be announced at the Detroit Auto Show. Or at least I hope they are.

Information on the 4xE is likely, we already know that is in the pipeline. Any engine options, other than the existing V6, is a long shot.

One thing to think about is that since the Gladiator came out in 2019 (as a 2020 model), the following models have been redesigned or will be redesigned in the coming year:
  • Toyota Tacoma
  • Ford Ranger
  • Chevy Colorado
  • GMC Canyon
  • Nissan Frontier
  • Honda Ridgeline (2024-2025 refresh)
  • Dodge Dakota (2024-2025)
These are just midsize trucks - not to mention the Ford Maverick's success or any of the full-size changes. It's a whole different market than when we first saw Bill Murray take the Groundhog for a joy ride.

Most of those had been on the market for years before Jeep entered and were definitely due for an update. Jeep doing a massive update after a few years would be kinda crazy.

I don’t think it’ll be massive but I think it’ll be similar changes that they made on the Wrangler. I wouldn’t understand the secrecy if they just kept it the same. Why wait for this auto show reveal only to reveal the exact same truck?

They're just delaying the crap storm that's going to come from all the disappointed Jeep owners.

I believe the Gladiator changes for 2024 will be minimal.

For sure they will match the wrangler changes, I would think it's too expensive not too. They probably waited a year so they could use up the rest of the old interior parts on the Gladiators. I think the main reason they are waiting is because they are trying to move the 23s, same reason they offered punkn and all the discounts. They probably saw with the Wrangler that orders and sales tanked after they announced the 24 changes.

Just for kicks I went to the local Jeep lot today and the salesman said four of their Gladiators were about to have a birthday on the lot; one year unsold. He said they can’t give ‘em away even with the employee pricing etc., was $65k now $57k kinda thing. Good time to buy (maybe better on the way but good is good!)
Fellow RI lander here, don't bother with the locals ....or inventory on the lot. I tried that route on vehicles that were sitting and they about laughed at me.

I ordered from Koons and got exactly what I wanted for $10k off and only waited 4 weeks. Gotta say I'm grateful mine came in when it did. I'd be too scared now to order with a strike looming.

Good to know. Really, thank you. I haven’t thought about ordering elsewhere; how’s it work? Do you go pick it up and drive back or have it hauled?

I hear you on the strike. I’m also curious about the reveal and how that will or won’t impact the 25,000 on the Jeep site available. It’s a big country, I know, but that’s a huge number.
