No, because unless you have AC on max, the ESS will still engage. Doesn't matter about "climate control" being on or not. Today was proof like I said before - it worked almost every stop I made save maybe for a couple stops made shortly after starting the truck after being inside shopping.

He says it works with doors off, not with doors on -
he never made a mention of climate control - further, it's a fact the ESS WILL work with climate control/AC on.
Only if it's on max will it simply not work.
So how would having "climate control" on make a difference? Unless it's on max AC?
IF the ESS is not engaging due to AC or heat - it will tell you that on the cluster. Scroll the display to the ESS page, it will tell you the reason.
Hey man, I'm with you. I'm just trying to iron out what @centra28 was trying to say.

Undisputed concrete video proof...

Bonus points if you guess the song playing...
Yes, it absolutely WORKS with AC on.
The only times it will not are:
Cabin temperature not within so many degrees of your goal or setting, or
If you have it on MAX AC.

I bought my truck November 2019. That week I set the control to "auto" and set the temperature.
It never changed off that setting unless my wife messes with it, or, if I choose defrost which I have only done a handful of times. Otherwise it's always on auto, and the temp is always around 67-68.
That means every time I drive my JT the climate control is set to auto, and in the summer that means AC is on. We've had crazy heat this year, crazy records and we're looking at upper 90s again this weekend and coming week. So the AC will run a lot - and yet my truck's ESS works.

I think part of the issue is that the OP didn't really expand on the conditions - does he run AC on max when the doors are on? Is it totally off when the doors are off?
Unknown variables.

It's only 74 what the hell you need AC for? ?
If he was driving through Iowa, I could explain it - these days when the temps are 74, so is the humidity. Today the early morning temps were in the mid to upper 70s and the air was hazy with humidity. Just walking to the garage your shirt got wet. Yes, you need AC here when the temps are in the 70s or 80s this time of year.
But looking at his location - so much for the "but it's a DRY heat" BS LOL
Man, I'd love to have 70s and low humidity - but I'd love to have some rain even more! We're drying up over here and no relief in sight. About 14" below normal rain since about March.

Its for sure nothing to do with the AC its 70 here this morning and no climate control on and the auto stop is unavailable as soon as I start it.

I removed the doors inspected the pins they are all fine and the auto stop worked great.

Put the doors back on and its disables it.

I did find this thread with someone else who had the same problem and it was some door sensor so it should get fixed as it goes into the shop next week.

Hi. I have a 2020 Rubicon Gladiator. The Auto Start only works with the doors off. Is this a know | 2018+ Jeep Wrangler Forums (JL / JLU) - Rubicon, Sahara, Sport, Unlimited - JLwranglerforums.com

Do you have a stick or automatic?
I could see a door sensor believing the door was open - and disabling ESS in that case.
BUT - I'd also expect it to not allow you to move the vehicle if it thought the door was open if it was automatic - using auto-park.

So much for that theory! Well if it's going in anyway.........
You might do like I've done a couple of times - print posts like you linked to and take with you. Some dealers don't mind a gentle and polite tip or hint as these things are so complex these days I suspect even some NASA engineers would pull their hair out.

Are you not wearing your seat belt when the doors are on? I have a Mt and it will not turn off if you are not wearing your seat belt.

Check your inbox.
"Cabin heating or cooling is in process and an acceptable cabin temperature has not been achieved."

That's a big exception. Especially if my side is 68-69* and hers is 84*. :D

Running with front doors off and top open, I only got it to AS/S once this morning. Drove all around today and it never activated, and I was applying much brake pressure. No A/C, 70/74 split, ambient air temp was high 70s.

It has to more to do with the HVAC system than people realize.

Its 100% something to do with the drivers door.

I can take it off no matter time of day, climate control off or on and yes seat belt on and with that door off it works fine.

As soon as I put the drivers door on right upon starting the engine it errors out saying auto stop is not available

I can not find any pins bent in the wiring harness

It goes in for service this Friday so will update in exactly what they fix.

It won’t work while the A/C is on.
It still works with the A/C on. If stopped long enough, it starts back up to keep things cool...

Retired and loving it
Mine has always worked just fine and I always have the AC cranking. Having said that, I don’t like the feature and try To remember to turn it off every time now.

Update on this getting fixed today but it was a faulty wiring harness for the door. I asked if a pin was bent and he said no it was just throwing a code for some reason and they replaced the harness and its fixed. I did ask if a bent pin would cause this and he said yes it could and its actually quite a common problem so good call @Mr._Bill

Bent pins in the door connectors will cause a number of issues that are not directly associated with the doors.
