IMO it depends on at least two things -
How long will you keep the truck
Where do you drive

If you plan on keeping it a while it will save on the expensive air filters by catching the bugs, sand and other larger stuff and now and then you simply remove it and shake it out and/or wash it off and put it back. It keeps the larger stuff out of the main filter.
It could save you over the lift of the truck because your main filters will last longer - depending on where you drive.
I've had filters filled up with bugs and larger stuff at times (in the past) so that's what it prevents.
I guess I compare it to the pre-filters on our air cleaners in the house - the main filters are crazy expensive but I can take the pre-filters out and clean them and put them back because they catch the larger things.

So you'll get as many answers as there are people responding - some will see it as a total waste, others who drive in conditions that fill their main filter with stuff that could be caught with this may like it.
But if you won't be keeping the truck more than 2 or 3 air filters worth of time, likely not worth it.
There is no right or wrong answer - obviously there's been a call for it - it takes at least some money to engineer, test, package and market these things.
@Jaxmax

You guys give valid points. I will probably keep it 8ish years and I too have the Mopar CAI. I usually want stuff to run the best and most efficient so guess I’m going to buy it ?

I searched the forum, Youtube and Google and unable to locate any decent threads on this topic. If I suck and this has already been discussed, debated, fought about and all the worlds problems solved please feel free to share the link and I will go lie down by my dish.

Let me start by acknowledging this may or may not enhance the performance of my rig. I have read all the other generic cold air intake threads, watched videos etc etc and still going to proceed. I have already purchased the Mopar Cold Air Intake (Part # 77072433AC) along with Mopar cat back exhaust and a crap load of other goodies so this is less about the value or lack there of cold air intakes and more about this specific intake .

Ultimately my question for today is......has anyone installed this? If so did you do it yourself or have the dealership do it? Do you lose the Rubicon on the hood? For the record I was going to take it off anyway but still wondering. Any other feedback regarding this specific cold air intake, install, performance, noise level etc is welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Okay, I broke down and ordered the Mopar CAI for my Gladiator. Install instructions were clear and easy to follow. Super nerve wracking cutting into the hood. Initial thoughts are as follows: Yes it does make more rumble under hood, initial MPG change seems to be increased.
Overall I am impressed and happy with it. Will update as I gather more data.

The power of marketing and suggestion..........

First off, how many miles on the truck, and, how many miles has it been driven since install?
You can't go by one tank, or even two.

Juse under 20k on it, literally just installed last night. Just going off the instant reading. As I gather more data I will provide a clearer picture of exact effects. No other modifications to it other than 1.5" leveling kit, side steps, rockblok mudflaps and Pixeldecals Nacho decals. It is a Sport S optioned with Max Tow option. I was consistently seeing 20-22 for the last several tanks of fuel.
And yes, the marketing did get to me, should have ordered it when I ordered the truck, but then no scientific type testing.

Bumping your response to the thread here to see if you would do again and longer term observations.

Hey Duck, so far I have run through three tanks and almost 1500miles since install. I have seen an increase of approximately 1.5mpg over that time. Same daily commute but with a little more throttle application...
Would I do it again? Absolutely, even though I didn't get the intake screen exactly 100 percent perfectly straight and the backside leaves a little gap.

Thanks Zebulon! Getting closer to pulling the trigger on an order and thinking about whether or not to check that box. Know I would still have to cut the hood myself if ordered (or not sure if the dealer is supposed to do that if desired when ordered through factory). Good to know you would do it again. Surprising that this is such a polarizing topic, and even among those that have actually installed, such wide ranging observations on differences to stock.

If Mopar CAI came installed from the factory, does it have the re-usable high flow filter in it or the stock standard Mopar filter?

The kit comes with the reusable filter. I would imagine a factory install would also. I installed the Mopar CAI, but left the stock filter in it.

Because of filtration concerns when off roading I suppose with the reusable one? I don't go much off roading but Las Vegas city driving also is dusty specially when we have windy days which happen frequently. Air quality gets very bad in the city as the winds blow considerable amount of dust from the surrounding desert into the valley. But I wanted some feedback on the Mopar reusable one - hope it is not as bad as K&N.
Oops, just noticed you are also in Las Vegas, so you know what I am talking about :):)

I think the Mopar filter is better than the K&N, but I don't really trust the reusable filters. Yeah, I left the stock filter in to try and keep the dirt out.
