what type of high pressure fuel pump do your busses run CP3 or 4?
Mostly CP3’s. We have a handful of CP4’s.
Our engines see a lot of stop and go, we stop on average 150 time per day just for kids. They don’t see a lot of miles though Typical mileage is about 12,000/year. We run clean fuel which is on site and they have a water/fuel separator and filter that both get changed twice a year. Fingers crossed. They did not issue a recap for these like Dodge did for the pickups.
That’s are also choked way back, 220 hp and 540 ftlbs. I will never understand why they choke down a pickup engine for a 30,000lb vehicle. When they put the Ford V10 in them they were only 320hp then Roush brought it up to 362, still only 457 ftlbs.
Yes, they have 5.29 gears but with a 41” tall 11R22.5 tire that still sucks.

The cp4 is the concern. Lack of lube in the fuel causes the cam that compresses the fuel to grenade.
Some don’t have any issues. Some don’t make it more than 5k miles….
Unfortunately almost all of the diesels we have use the cp4, as a preventative measure we add an additive to aid in lube the problem. ???

I have switched from EDT to LX4. The LX4 additive is more focused on the lubricity component than EDT.

I really rely on my jeep especially during ski season... Reliability is important when its sub zero degrees out.

I want it to make it through on the original pump until the recall starts here in the spring.

I feel zero power difference... But I didn't feel anything with EDT.

Interesting point... EDT contains LX4 since 2020. But cetane boost probably isn't very important to most of us running stock engines, whereas lubricity sure as hell is... Straight LX4 looks to be a bit cheaper MSRP too (though not at the moment on amzn, some sale going on)

Noticed that EDT and Winter+EDT have CA Prop 65 Cancer warning (if anyone cares but nevertheless...). The LX4 does not have the Prop 65 warning, at least from the label pictures I saw online. My LX4 is arriving tomorrow. I will start the LX4 regimen when I fill up next by this weekend.

Funny, I have EDT, LX4 and extreme coming up Sunday too. I plan on running a mix of LX4 and EDT since they’re compatible together. But first, one tank for extreme as I’ve never done it and I’m past their 6k mi recommended interval.

Hopefully this is not snake oil?

I started using EDT last week. The engine felt more responsive/peppier. My plan is to add 1oz each time I fill up the tank and track any changes to MPG.

I have LX4 coming on Friday and will start adding 1 oz to all my vehicles.

So the original poster asked how to refill the bottle. If you look down the neck you’ll see a plug at the bottom of the dosing chamber, use a small right angle pick to pull the plug, remove the plug, fill the lower chamber, reinsert the plug.

Lx 4 separates at freeze temp, it also works for gasoline engines. Started to add some in my 05 VW Jetta w/76k, it’s good stuff.
