So I was getting the JT serviced and walked the lot at Hendricks in Concord NC and noticed there are zero max tow JTs on the lot! Anyone else notice and wonder why??

Seems like most dealers order Rubicons as that is what are on the lots around here. When I got my JT Max Tow in February it was the only one in the Rocky Mountain Front Range. It had the options I wanted and I don't care about color so it saved me waiting on one if ordered. I probably would have still ordered black anyway as the Tan and Gator aren't available.

When I ordered my Sport S the dealer had about 10 Gladiators on the lot: 1 White Sport S, and the rest were Rubicons and Mojaves. I'm sure that's where the money is for them.

Definitely depends on where you’re at, I see more overlands on the lot in my area.

I was at my local dealership today and they had barely any jeeps or Gladiators on the lots still. It seems they have not had many in quite a while. They could be selling them as fast as they get them maybe

I think that is a big part of it. Mine was built on Jan. 26 and I purchased it on Feb. 18. Not for sure how long it takes to ship from Ohio to Denver and then to the dealership, but it couldn't have been on the lot for very long. The dealership did have a white one listed as in transit. The dealership here doesn't have much for new, just used. Crazy thing is they are asking more used than what they cost new per MSRP. IT's a no brainer just to buy a new one.

When I got my JT in March 2021, my max tow was the only one on the lot. However, there was another dealer in the area that had like 4 or 5 on the lot. I remember a couple were black because I almost got one but the salesman didn’t give me a counter offer lol.

It's been that way since 2019 when I was first looking around, big lots, small lots, all the same. This ain't anything new or anything to do with economy, Covid or shortages. It was the way it was years ago.
Most of what I saw back then was Sport (not max tow) and Rubicon. Seems nothing has changed in almost 3 years.

In 2019, and early 2020, all I saw were rubis and max tows. After talking to the dealer and asking why that was i was informed that FCA/Stealantis/who ever is current owner had a ton of them made ahead of release and only made a couple of “quick order” packages so customers could get their “order” faster. Once the initial rush died down and people began to see what options it had and what they actually were the overland and rubi became popular.

now, her in DE, its basically all rubi/mojave/willys.

Dealers here had no max tow - that's what I was originally looking at until I found how limited they were in options back then. If that's what you wanted, you had to order it.

Wild how they stacked options. I wonder if they stacked their max towa on the coast lines at the beginning with the assumption theyd sell them to boat people?

Dunno. If I had wanted a Sport or Rubicon, I had my pick (except they had nothing in blue)

When I bought my JTR, I was looking for a max tow. No dealer in Northern California had one. So I settled for a Rubicon. ;)

buyers just don’t know what they are getting in the max tow option. Shoot, even a few dealers didn’t know what it was, when I asked if they had any.

I think everyone is overlooking the real reason. Only the smartest, manliest, and thriftiest individuals can possibly handle the responsibility and privilege of driving a max tow JT. Jeep knows that there are so many worthy drivers out there, so they keep the stock low and hide them away from the undeserving.
