If so can you post a pic?
Thinking of removing mine for I never liked the plastic engine covers. Just screams cheesey.

Will do it soon but I'd someone had already done it please post.

Any I'll effects? More engine noise?
Any beffifets?

Thanks!!!

Brackets removed if anyone is interested. Took about a whole 5 minutes and I think it looks great. More mechanical.

OK, glad you like it. For me, I don't see much reason to remove a plastic cover to reveal a plastic intake, etc
Because the intake is much more pleasing to look at. When someone pops open an engine bay and you see a plastic cover hiding the engine it just looks cheesy in my opinion.
I will take the engine look over a cover thank you, and I do like it.

I think the engine covers became a thing around 10 years ago. I always thought it was silly, just another hood to open after you open the hood, and may be a heat trap (unverified) on a motor that already runs hot/lean for the sake of emissions. It also prevents quick and easy inspections - checks to see if anything's leaking or if critters are moving in.

From the manufacturer's perspective it gives them a surface for branding, and there may be a safety and liability benefit by keeping objects or inexperienced hands away from the motor bits.

Ever since they came out I've removed them but haven't got around to doing that on the JT yet. I think I've had the hood open twice since taking delivery 5 months ago.

I yanked mine too for reasons as noted above.

On the JK's, the 3.6L engine cover popped off, and you had to remove it to change the oil filter. On the JT, you do not have to remove it to access the filter, and it is bolted down.

Yeah I think I'm going to have to do this. Was wondering what it looked like and that's pretty clean... not hoses and harnesses all over like some do.

3 bolts on two brackets. It really does look good in person. Nice to actually see the engine.

The engine is uglier than the cover. There are a bunch of carefully engineered airflow controls built into this thing. It may or may not play into optimal cooling. Having open air is often worse for cooling than having controlled, directed air. This is common with computers, if you leave the cover off.

I think the engine looks good for today's engines. I just remember the day when the engine was the crown Jewel of the vehicle. Now they try to hide everything.

Now when someone asks to see the motor I can actually show them.

Cooling? I can't see that it could effect anything good or bad. Cooling is done through the radiator and excess heat is helped via side vents. If this cover is to help cooling in any way we're in trouble!

The air flow from the radiator is managed to maximize its flow. In very hot areas, fuel injectors also need temperature management. They even make heat covers for injectors.

I'm totally sure you're not going to blow up the motor, but also think the cover exists for a reason.

Ok, so called my dealer near me. I was told it's strictly for visual with a little sound damping from the foam underliner. Very minimal he said.
