I have a 2021 Gladiator Sport with the 8.4 entertainment package. CarPlay worked fine until I updated my iPhone to IOS 14.5. Now it starts cutting out and eventually the Jeep won't recognize the phone any longer. This happens 3 or 4 times in a row and then it will usually stay connected.

Anyone else having this problem?

Are you using the usb in the center console or the one in the lower dash? The center console port is notorious for this behavior, regardless of OS.

Yeah, I’m using the center console. My Android phone works perfectly fine from that same port. It literally started the day I updated.

I’ll try the port in the dash and see if I have any better luck with those ones.

Thanks!

Bad news for y'all. Jeep knows about this issue and has no intention of fixing it.

They claim it is the iPhone software, but the truth is it is the hub connector that feed the center console.

Just get used to running your iphone connected to the USB port in front of the shifter under the AC. You can open complaints until the cow comes home, they are not going to fix it.

There are several threads, several of us have had Jeep Cares open tickets. Jeep will not fix this! I doubt ever! They advertise it still as a feature, but it doesn't work and never has!

False advertising, YES! This is FCA after all!

@FoxForce4 I’m updating to 14.5 now and will report back if I experience issues. I use the center console and haven’t experienced any issues. I do use a wireless CarPlay adapter so I don’t have to plug my phone in every time. Anyway, I’ll let you know.✌

Which wireless adapter do you use?

I took a few quick trips this afternoon and used the media plug in the dash. I used the USB C port and I didn't have any problems with it at all.

Will try it on a longer trip tomorrow.

Drove for 3+ hours on Sunday and had the phone plugged into the dash via USB C. Didn’t have any issues.

Also, my iPhone just updated to IOS 14.5.1 so I will see if that helps with the center console at all.

At least I know the dash plugs works!

Good deal. I’ve used the center console for a couple hours since the upgrade to 14.5 and haven’t experienced any issues.

I wonder why the center console is so hit and miss for folks.

The center armrest/console port is not technically what is part of the "Media Center". The center dash ports, as I was told by my dealer's tech specialist (the mechanic/tech dedicated to radio updates, repairs, etc.), are specifically designed to tell the radio when an AndroidAuto or CarPlay device is connected. The center port should work with the 5 inch and 7 inch radios. The 8.4 seems to be where it doesn't usually work.

Latest update. My iPhone updated to IOS 14.5.1. I did another 3 hour drive using the center console and I didn't have one issue. My issue seems to be totally software related. I will report back if it craps out again on me. At least the other plug is an option if the one in the console stops working.

I’m behind on iPhone updates (14.4...) and my CarPlay just shit the bed on a road trip today. It was working perfectly fine all weekend, then I stopped for gas. Once I started the truck back up, the carplay was a no go. Did a factory settings reset, nothing. Turned the truck off and on, nothing.

Anyone have any ideas what caused it or how to fix it?
