It looks small, begs the question will a typical Glock fit in it?....
Well, I don't have a Glock. But it will fit a Springfield 4" 1911 with 2 Holsters. It will fit a Colt 3". 357 and holster and it will fit a Sig P229/ with optic and a holster. Not all at once but if needed could easily fit 2 of the pieces and thier Holsters.

Leaving a firearm in a vehicle is not a smart move but, sometimes the need arises because you have no other choice. That's the only reason I have one.
Tuffy, makes one that is about half the price of console vault. And still serves the same purpose. Again for emergency cases where you have no other choice I think this an acceptable option.

I see no problem (now) about anyone breaking into my Jeeps. In the late 90's I lived in a part of Miami (Coconut Grove) that was upscale in many regards but somewhat dangerous if you were too far from the tourist area. I was sort of in the middle.

Anyway, I bought a new Jeep with a soft top ('99 TJ, manual, half doors). I loved it (still have it by the way). I parked it in front of my apartment and locked it. About 6 weeks later, I go out to my Jeep in the morning and the drivers side window is slashed and glove compartment wide open. Nothing of any value was in it, but the paperwork for the Jeep was pulled out and nothing was taken.

Lesson learned: Since then, I had purchased a '16 JKU, again soft top with factory half doors (rare!). Still have that one also. But from day 1, I have never even thought about locking it. For what? If someone wants to open the doors and look around, go for it. Maybe they will be impressed and buy one. If someone wants it that bad to steal it, go for it, it's insured. If it is later found, at least the insurance company won't have to replace windows that were slashed. It's that simple.

And the poor guy still doesn't know if he can buy those parts or how to get the glove box out...........
I don't want to lock things or extra security or a bomb proof vault or a turret....I just want to replace the latch haha. If I were concerned about something I'm leaving in the truck, I probably would have doors on, roof on, etc. Nothing was taken, not the handful of change, not the bluetooth obd scanner, not the jump starter on the floor in back, nothing from the truck bed (which is not much anyway)

There's cameras in the garage too, still waiting on the parking management co to get back to me on that. I just want to be able to open the glovebox... funny thing is, they never got into it anyway! So I suppose it's secure???

I usually leave it unlocked, so they can steal the jeep manual next time I suppose. Oh well

Might have been trying to open the glovebox so they could get to the star connector behind it. That's how thieves program new keys and steal Jeeps and Hellcats. Only takes about 90 seconds once they plug in their tablet.

He said the console was opened and rifled through............ but his real question is - how can he fix the glove box.

I would drill a few holes around the existing lock (look up what it looks like so you don’t hit something important) and basically make it such that you destroy the glove box door (which is easily replaceable) but salvage the lock.

then buy a new glove box door/latch assembly, install your old lock, and you’re off to the races. A new assembly is like $175 from mopar. https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-instrument-panel-glove-box-7fv19tx7aa?

Benny might have it at discount, even with a shipping discount.

Didn't know that was a thing... so I guess keeping it locked is the right move

Don't have time today to mess with it but looks like it will be easy to open

Unfortunately looks like the lock itself is broken. Can see the plastic nub where it broke off

If he locked the glovebox (for whatever reason) and the glove box was broken by the thief, wouldn't it be much easier just to buy a new glove box? It is just a piece of plastic that I am sure can be found on ebay or off some other location.

Just a thought.

Drilling around the handle and or latch sounds like your best option so far. Once you have it opened if the lock is not salvageable keying a new one for a new glove box is pretty easy.
