I have a 21 Hydro Blue Overland Diesel and ordered the switch kit and the bracket for the diesel. I installed the wiring under the hood and routed to interior. I had issues removing the orange wire and I think I damaged the plastic were the PIN plugs into the factory harness. My future son-in-law helped me get it out of the harness and I should have asked for help first as when I tried on my own I broke the wire and now I need to solder the wire that broke. It is a pain. but I think I can do it. Long story is that the instructions are not clear, but on the new harness there is an orange wire, and it includes a small orange wire. Need to know where:

  • Where does the orange wire I pulled out if the factory harness go?
  • Where does the small orange wire go that came with the kit?
  • Where does the orange wire go that is on the main Aux kit harness?
This is my last step. I do not think I will attempt this again :(

This is an after the fact question/suggestion. And I'm hoping you got it figured out because it sounds like it's giving you hell. But I'm curious as to why you didn't go with aftermarket switches?

Can't speak for him but the programmability is awesome in the OEM switches. Can set momentary, latching, ignition on, always on battery - per switch, all in the head unit.

Go to 4:45 here.:

As far as I know, none of the aftermarket stuff does this.

Ok, I understand that. If you need all of that, then factory is the way to go. I have the stock switches on the right, but installed Lasfit switches on the left for my lockers. Two of the switches are normal but the other two have two different modes. And my stock switches are all set to always on. Never had a reason to change it.

But, I do understand what you mean. Those are great options to have if you need them.

The factory aux switches require a trip to the dealership for programming from what I understand. I'm thinking about installing the lasfit aux switches they look almost oem

I have the Lasfit switches for my lockers. I understand they don't have the programmability of the stock switches but they were a simple install and I just didn't want anything else electronic added to the stock electronic system.

I guess it all depends on what your use will be. If you want the programming, go with the stock. Nothing wrong with the stock switches at all. Mine came factory with the ones on the right. But If you want switches that look factory but without the headache, got with Lasfit.

If you have the Tazer Mini you can program the aux switches to ON with that as well, instead of the dealer.
I did this install as well, really like the OE fit and look of the OEM panel.
