Well then I was correct it seems glad to have more experienced reply thanks @ShadowsPapaA transmission replacement should be treated the same as a rebuild as far as resetting things, starting over.
A few months ago I saw a post in the JSCAN FB pages that said don't do a quick relearn, etc. - of course as fakebook goes and why I HATE it for any real support questions, you'll never find that post again, unlike forums.
Sorry for the delayed response. Been out of town all weekend wheeling Leatherwood in KY. Great OHV Park! Anyway, no I didn't do the swap although he did have it replaced eventually by a shop. I see that others chimed in and answered your question which is good because the question was answered with much more info than I could have provided. Thanks everyone for jumping in. This is a great forum!!Sorry for the necro, but @JTenn did you end up doing this for your buddy? Mine needs a transmission and I've got a line on a good hemi swap take off for not a terrible price.
Did you need to do any programming or anything or was it plug and play?
Fill us in some details . Steps taken on fluid etc.. Trans cooler replacement or flush etc..Gentlemen it is my pleasure to report that hitting the ole switcharoo with the transmission has resolved all of my issues and it was indeed just as plug and play as everyone made it sound.

All in all about 12 hours of work between my buddy and I across three days, about 4 hours each evening. (24 man hours how'd we do against book time?Fill us in some details . Steps taken on fluid etc.. Trans cooler replacement or flush etc..
What yr. Is your gladiator? Where the heck did you find a transmission with 6 miles on itAll in all about 12 hours of work between my buddy and I across three days, about 4 hours each evening. (24 man hours how'd we do against book time?)
We blew out the trans cooler with some low pressure air, planning on doing a fluid and filter swap again in another 500-1000 miles. The fluid that was in it was only about 20k miles old and still looked almost new when we drained it so I think all the damage and friction material was removed with the fluid and filter change I did last summer. Almost nothing on the magnets in the transmission that was removed as well, whereas last summer they were coated.
The YouTube tutorials I saw said the flexplate/torque converter bolts were easier to do by removing the starter but I disagree completely. I did them both splitting and mating the transmission through the inspection plate on the passenger side and it was quite easy.
Whoever designed that heat exchanger and lines layout on the damn thing, as well as the bracket on the stud on the very top needs to be summarily executed.
So far as filling went, filled it to the plug before starting, started and stopped engine as quickly as possible and repeated until fluid stayed at the plug level, then followed the mopar filling instructions. Took about 6.5 quarts of fluid, which I was surprised at, going to check the fluid level again tomorrow after driving a bit.
The transmission I put in was AD part no. off a 2025 JLU with 6 miles on it. The one I pulled out was an AB, however in the actual castings my bad one is revision 2 and the new one is revision 7, no exterior differences.
If anyone has any specific questions go ahead and ask, but that's everything that rolls off the too of the head.
I have a 2020, August 2019 build date. What yr. Is your gladiator? Where the heck did you find a transmission with 6 miles on itI found one with 6k thought that was fantastic but that is outstanding

Mine in in the shop now has been fo 3 days expecting to get call it done tomorrow
I also bought mine from LKQ think it was on like May 30th , too late now I am sure its in they just ain't called yet.I have a 2020, August 2019 build date.
I had a line on a 500 mile hemi swap pull out but that fell through, then I was browsing LQK and there was one listed as 6 miles pulled out of a 2025 JLU so I hopped on it. There's a few more listed as having sub 20 miles listed still from brand new 2025s. I don't know why they're pulling basically new transmissions, they aren't from totaled vehicles because the pictures still have window stickers in them but I'll take it.
I hope yours turns out greatI have a 2020, August 2019 build date.
