If it's new Mopar 8/9 speed ATF it should be a light green color.
It was most certainly light green . It operated and shifted kike a dream coming over to my site 65 miles from house . So far so good . I forgot how smooth these transmissions are when working correctly

I think checking it at 86 and capping it off at 90F is where I’d have it. 120 is on the far side of the window I wouldn’t want to have the oil level at …but it is in the window.
Okay so it was very warm at the house last night morning temp was 73( but as I was rolling up the road to the big valleys I have to go through temp dropped to 59F ) so by time engine idled down the temp of the transmission fluid hot 86 rather quickly rolled the plug out and no fluid came out so I added till fluid came pouring back out then per the diagram @ShadowsPapa posted for me waited till it went to a drip drip drip then slapped the plug back in . By the time I finished filling it was at 93F or 94F.
It ran like a dream coming over and temps stayed consistent. Included some pics . Of first temp I checked at . And then running temps on way over . Which as I said is 65 miles away.

That just makes me cringe. Thick isn't necessarily better. In fact, it should take very little gasket at all unless there's a pan issue.
Yep. They’re morons.

When mine warmed too much during the procedure, it took over an hour before we could mess with it again.

I lost a tiny bit when I took the plug out . Ugh .
That happened to me as well. I let it cool and ran through it again.

Yes ,I had to stop last night cause it jumped to 127 and @Hootbro said just let it set all night . It has been so dang warm it only takes minutes to get to temp. This would be so much easier to do in winter šŸ˜‚

Me too. When my friend @tredzlitely and I did the second one, on his JL, we did a much better job watching temps. It took one of us in the driver seat the whole time the other person was topping off, calling out temps to know if it was getting close to warming up too much. It went great that way. With mine we were caught off guard with the warm up. No harm though. Just waited until it was back in the 90’s and did it again.

JSCAN with the phone next to you under the jeep. It will display all temps.

Oh. Ok. Maybe you’ve finally convinced me to get jscan. Of course I already have one dongle based scanner and one innovo. Maybe the innovo cord is long enough.

I need to do another drain and fill soon. Now that I have a drain plug, I’m super tempted to drill a hole in the skid plate so I don’t need to remove it. But it would be quite difficult to find a funnel that would fit in that tight space.
