Removing the fuse box doesn't look like that big of a deal. More of an annoyance than anything else. I already watched a video of [Banned Site] do it on his JL Wrangler and took notes on it w/pictures.

BTW He didn't remove the IBS or anything.. all he did was disconnect the negative and positive leads from the main battery, then remove the aux battery and do the same.. put in the new aux, connect it, put in the new main, and connect it.

He didn't even disconnect either wire from the ground he just disconnected the entire - and + cables from the terminals leaving all other cables attached to them. Didn't seem to have a problem.

Is it really necessary to reconnect the IBS or reset it? or even fully charge them?
Just pulling the IBS from the negative post during the swap usually resets it. It has been recommended to fully disconnect it for at least 10 minutes to ensure a reset.

The IBS relearn process works better if both batteries are fully charged before installation. The 'smart' charging system uses the data from the IBS to make decisions on adjusting the alternator output.

I wonder if they made changes on the 2023 models? My Jeep sits for two weeks at a time and starts with no problems.

Mine is 2022. Battery could be indeed bad. I mean it was completely dead even after I jumped it when I didn't start it for another 4-5 days.

Yeah, it sounds like the software that Jeep was using doesn't sufficiently charge the battery. The 2020 - 2022 Ram EcoDiesels had charging issue, too. Ram tried to save fuel as much as possible by putting the alternator into energy savings mode. People who had RVs would literally be pulling power from the RV battery while driving down the road. By the time they got to the campground (assuming it was a long enough trip), the RV battery would be dead. Later, Ram had a software update to improve the charging parameters.

"Software" is the big problem across the board. Before things were based on "software" everything had to be as close to perfect as possible before it went out the door.

I can't tell you how many times I've had the screens just go black and it's like WTF and they don't come back on until I "reboot" the truck lol..

I can only imagine if that happens on vehicles where the ENTIRE instrument cluster is a screen so you don't see MPH or anything.

K, it's all done.

Two new batteries. I pulled the main, unplugged IBS, then took apart the fuse box, got underneath to the aux battery, replaced it, and then put it all back together, then put in the new main battery, connected the positive, then I charged the aux battery fully, charged the main fully, and connected the IBS and the negative back up.

Everything started fine.

People saying that getting to the aux battery is super difficult or something. If I can do it, anyone can do it. First time I ever took apart the fuse box on any vehicle.
