Aux. Battery Relocation

No intention of deleting it.

I've seen one relocation kit online, costs ~$400, and you end up with the aux. battery on top of the fuse box. Easier to access, sure, but far from ideal. (and also, frankly, way too expensive for what it is)

Has anyone modified the main battery tray to fit the aux next to it? The compass, for all it's faults, actually houses both batteries together.

I replaced both mine yesterday (factory units, 23k miles, 3.5 years old) and it seems like there is plenty of wire on the aux. pigtail to shift it up and out of the hole it sits in.

I guess the main question in my mind would be... Why? Something that gets touched once every 3-5 years doesn't seem like something I'd spend money to have it... "Handy" for lack of a better word.

To improve on a poor design. It's one thing to change it in the driveway/garage, it'd be another to do it in a random parking lot in the rain or middle of nowhere on a trail.

This is exactly why I may go ahead and pre-emptively replace both my batteries before my trip to Utah. They're four years old and will surely decide to die in the middle of nowhere.

ChrisLA. I did just that on the '21 when it moved to TX in March of 25.. Much less costly for me to do than to pay there.

Although I'm curious what the rationale is for not removing it in your case, getting at it via the fender liner is stupid easy compared to top down. Even if you're on a trail.

Personally, I yoinked mine out and swapped the stock battery for an Odyssey Group 94.

Switch the main to LiPo4 then run a slew of Renogy LiPo4 minis under the rear seat. 500Ahr Aux Battery!!!!!

Yeah, I went through the fender liner as well.

Reasons for keeping it, right now, are a combination of not minding the system on the whole, not wanting to have to leave any battery leads taped up underneath, and having the avengers button just being a waste of space inside once deleted.

Eventually the truck will reach an age where I don’t mind cutting up the wiring harness and maybe converting the avengers button into an aux. switch or something but we’re no where near that yet

I actually have some thin ABS plastic that would work perfectly for this - but I'm not sure it would be helpful. I've never personally had to access the battery yet.

I do like the Genesis setup, and I also like the idea of not molesting anything, but $400+ makes ya eyes water...

It’s a good looking system but it eats up a LOT of real estate in the engine bay. I’d look towards one of their diesel systems that relocates the battery to under the rear seat. Right there in the battery area is prime area for switch panels and snorkels buss bars and all sorts of stuff.

I guess it depends on everyone's use case. I flatout refuse to give up an inch of space under my back seat. It's full of tools so that my bed can stay empty (aside from my molle panels on the sides).

I have considered adding a second battery onboard, but I'd prefer to go the Genesis route with two fullsize batteries under the hood, or stash a second battery under the truck with this kit:

I know some folks would be concerned with that Superwinch option, but I don't wheel hard and I don't typically forde water so the location wouldn't be of grave concern.

That's sort of different than just relocating the Aux14 battery though.
