My aux was at 3.81V when I took it off the truck. Been charging it for a couple hours and it’s currently at 13.3V, just 0.1V from the recommended 13.4-13.9V range
I personally wouldn’t trust this as a sign it’s good. Unhealthy batteries can look good when on the charger all the time. Let it sit for a day or two and then measure it. The fact that it got below 4v is concerning, and likely means it’s been damaged.

That makes sense. Thanks for letting me know.

I know, totally my fault when I left
it's still on the original batteries, should I replace the aux first?
If you got 4 years out of the OEM batteries, take that as a win.

Replace them both to prevent issues

I know this was covered before. Bought my 2023 Glad Freedom in march of 2024, buy the build date ,the dealer had it on the lot for about 1 to 2 months. When I drive the battery volt always reads 14.5 even if I go 3 miles or a 3 hour drive . If I start it during the drive for a break it reads 14.3 to14.2 . If I don't drive the Glad the next day , putting it on acc to check the volt meter it will read 12.2 to 12.1 then bounce back to 12.2 or 12.3. No problems starting, no codes, The Glad runs perfect. I hate the battery system they went with, but what can you do. Maybe I'll bring it in for service in a few weeks when I get back from vacation. Any one else have one act like this.

The battery system is really not a problem, even though there are a few that really dislike it. The batteries it is shipped with are the biggest problem.

The 14+ voltage reading means the batteries are low and it is trying to charge them. The low 12 readings indicate the batteries are in poor health.

Separately charge both batteries. Let them sit for a while and check with a meter. They should each read around 12.8 when fully charged with no load on them.

If the truck is not regularly driven enough to keep the batteries charged, it should have a battery maintainer connected when parked.

WOW!, Is it hard to charge both batteries, Would I have to take things apart to charge, or just hook the right charger up to the pos and neg post. I know I would need an agm charger. Unfortunatly I'm not mechanicly inclined with trucks and cars. Would the dealer test them and do something with the batteries? It's under warranty. I'm glad I leased the Glad then buying it out right. I'm use to the older charging systems, wouldn't a 2 hour run recharge the batteries? They do read 12.7 maybe for about an hour or two after I shut the truck off. Thanks.

There are two cables connected to the negative post of the main battery. One is the cable to the frame, the other is the Aux battery negative cable. Remove the Aux negative cable and keep it isolated. Connect the positive from the charger to the Main Battery. Connect the negative from the charger to the main battery (where the Aux negative was connected) to charge it. Move the charger negative from the main battery to the Aux negative cable to charge it. Use a meter on those connection points to get a voltage reading on each battery.

Healthy batteries will read 12.8 volts with no load when fully charged, and should be able to maintain that level for quite a while. If not, the health is degraded.

The dealer will test the batteries, and replace them under warranty if they fail. Jeep has a set process for them to follow, and makes the final decision on warranty replacement.

A two hour drive will put a decent charge in the batteries, but is not enough to keep them fully charged unless done at least every two or three days.

After the batteries are fully charged, and the cables reconnected, a charger or maintainer can be attached to the top of the Main Battery posts to keep both batteries charged.

Thanks Mr Bill. I had to come home from the beach for the mail, I stopped at the dealership I bought the jeep from, there pretty good with service. When I drop it off, they will test the batteries, either fully charge both or replace both. Also check the poping noise in the front end I get , gee just like some of the other Jeeps. With less than 4 k on her, I'll see what there warranty will do. I really love the Glad, but like I said, this is why I leased it. If I don't like it at the end of the 36 months, I'll turn it in. Thanks again.

Update on Dealer visit. Took the Glad in this morning, They checked the batteries, reset the smart thing on the battery cable terminal. Then they call me to come and look at the truck while on the lift. Both lower balljoint nuts were loose. They tightened down and the mechanic used more torqu on them . I'm pleased with thedealer service. Front end has no more clicking sound.

Oh, boy. Learning from youtube video.

The batteries were extremely low. That was the problem. No need to search youtube and get into that "the aux battery causes poor mpg, climate change and death wobble" types of stuff.
But it's the "in thing, cool Jeep thing" to do. Why? Because it's repeated so many times.
If any of my cars sit for a month - they go on a tender (BatteryMinder)
My original batteries lasted fine in my first Gladiator, and the batteries in my current JT are over 2 years old and doing just fine.

This is how I charge mine when it sits for a few days (and it's been sitting a lot since I'm not really supposed to be driving with new meds and med conditions)

Is this a tender kit you bought, or did you wire this yourself? If DIY, can you share which pins you connected the wires to? This is clean and neat. I like it.

The 12v line in the Tow Wiring is always hot. This gives you a 12v port at the back of the truck. You can use it to power devices, or connect a Battery Maintainer to keep it charged.
