My Gladiator Mojave is currently in the shop getting a hellcat and a few other goodies installed. My question is about axles. Do you think that chromoly axle shafts or RCV's will suffice on the stock Mojave D44 axle? My other option is a Dynatrac XD60 swap, but with the money I'm already dropping, I'm hoping to wait until next year to spring for new axles. What do you think?

Neat, I would ask the shop doing the swap, assume they have done some other high horsepower swaps and would know what the best solution is.

I believe your bigger concern is going to be ring and pinion, and not the axle shafts. As mentioned above, speak with the shop and see what they say. My gut says you're going to need to upgrade unless you plan on babying for the next year. I'd be willing to wager that after a few really good pulls, you'll leave a trail of ring and pinion if you leave them stock.

What size tires are you going to be running? My installer said with my 5.7 and D44 axles that 37" would be as large as I should go before doing Ton's. So I am pushing the limits and running 38's lol.

I know of another member that has the 6.4 and is running stock D44's maybe with upgraded axle shafts but I can not remember tire size, 37 or 38? So far they are holding up but you are doing the Hellcat (awesome) more torque and I assume larger tires, going to be asking a lot of the D44's, A LOT.
Depending on how often you offroad and how hard you go. If you can not swing axles now you could use the stock axles until you need to upgrade and give you a chance to recoup some funds. Just need to be careful with the skinny peddle so as not to blow an axle out somewhere and get stranded.
Keep us updated on the build!

They will last just as long as any other motor…. Comes down to how much you use the new skinny pedal….. If I were throwing down the cash for a hellcat swap I would be having a Dana 60/80 combo done at the same time. What’s $20 more grand?

They'll be putting 4.88 gears in. I opted to not add a front locker at this time because I just don't think the front d44 is gonna hold up.

As far as the shop gorsz I told them what I intend to use the jeep for and they didn't think I needed to upgrade axles. The upgraded axle shafts was their idea.

To me, you’re essentially already going all-in with that engine swap. I’d just have the shop upgrade the axles while you’re at it unless you’re just planning on puttering around town with it.

As awesome as the RCV's are, my worry was that I'd be taking the weak link away from the u-joints and making it my ring and pinion.

This build started out with me getting a Magnusson, a full steer smart steering upgrade, a JKS suspension, and fox 3.0's. somehow it has morphed into me getting a hellcat. I also dropped the 3.0's. I do plan on eventually getting 60's but my budget would prefer that I wait a year. If the concensus on the forum was that I was gonna grenade my stock axles in a month then I was just gonna go ahead and do it now.

Here's my take on it. You are planning to get 1 ton's in the future. Why spend money on the 44's now when that money could be used towards the 1 ton's.

I'm really wanting to save $20k right now. I'm already way over what I originally budgeted for this project.

Also, anything that I throw at my D44's can/will be swapped into my wife's jeep. That's what's happening with my original ReadyLift suspension lift. It's all coming off and going into my wife's jeep.

Go ahead and do it then. You won't be wasting money since you can transfer the parts over to your wife's Jeep.
