Has anyone used a product that actually works to bring back faded black plastics?

Stuff worked great for me. Did the wiper cowl, easy and straight forward.

I believe it was your post I saw on here about it! I'm going to try it if it ever stops raining.

If your plastic is already faded, nothing short of paint will bring it back. Protection before it fades is the key. The products that will be mentioned are only a temporary fix that you will have to reapply frequently. Cerekote is the best that I have seen that works the longest.

I use this with great results.

I do caution to use it cautiously when around your clear plastic items like the instrument cluster. It will leave visible spots on clear. Best to apply with a sponge for interior dash items. That said, it does do a nice job of helping with faded headlights. Outside works greats. Like Armor all on steroids.

I use the Cerakote on both of my Jeeps, great results, and has lasted over 3 years without the protection of a garage or car port.

I figured out something when brining my plastic trim back to life. My bad areas were the wiper cowl and door handles. Nothing thing I tried worked until I scrubbed the bad areas with simple green and a tooth brush. Then it sucked up the back to black. It just had too much imbedded dirt.

Another 3M #303 fan here. This is a marine grade product so I suspect it is pretty good on preventing UV damage.

I used a heat gun before and it worked great! You will just have to be very careful not to melt your plastic 😬
