He is making more and will get back to me when he lists them. :)
He just responded to me also. Said he ordered enough for 5. Said usually makes them and lists them one at a time. Said they were slow sellers. I told him not anymore.

Slow most likely because so few Gladiator owners knows of them and just puts up with it or does something else.
I have that film on my license plate lights but it's not ideal.

Agree with that. Hopefully this will help him sell more so he will continue to make them.

Thanks for the tip. I've added him to my watch list. Looking forward to seeing what he has to offer.

I looked over all the posts in this thread with the Taser programming to turn off the license plate lights when backing up looking the best to me. I don't have a Taser and I didn't see this feature in my OBD JScan app, so I just covered the entire licensee plate light lenses with black tape for now.

It was easy to do placing a larger piece over the lens then trimming with an Exacto knife around the lens for a clean fit. I figure if anyone needs to see my license plate in the dark their headlights will light it up fine.

Currently in the same boat as you - thought I read about someone doing it with jscan so bought it and all the accessories, then found it wasn't available. ?‍♂

I like the idea of the relay - I'd make one myself, but don't have time to track down the connectors and pins to make the harness connection. (I won't use scotchlocks)

The license plate light is required equipment: you can get cited if it’s out.

I put in some bumper reverse lights so the area by the license plate isn't a hot spot to the camera.

Rock lights, a sheet of abs, some red reflective tape and a t-harness so I didn't have to tap the 7pin

I'd agree if I had the correct tools to do the correct sealed crimps on those connectors. By the time I get the correct tool for the correct connectors, find and buy the shells, etc. - I can make more than 60 bucks doing another restoration.

My wiring tools date back into the 80s and before............... and the correct tools for the correct crimps on these aren't cheap.
But for the guys who have said tools, maybe you do? I can see your point for sure.

California Vehicle Code 24601Either the taillamp or a separate lamp shall be so constructed and placed as to illuminate with a white light the rear license plate during darkness and render it clearly legible from a distance of 50 feet to the rear.
When the rear license plate is illuminated by a lamp other than a required taillamp, the two lamps shall be turned on or off only by the same control switch at all times.

Many other states have similar laws......
New York, for example -
4. if required to display a number plate on the rear, a white light
which shall illuminate the numerals on such plate in such manner as to
render such numerals legible for at least fifty feet from the rear. The
provisions of this subparagraph shall also apply to trailers.

I dare ya to tell a cop "hey, you can turn your headlights on if you need to read my plate"......... They must be able to read it if they are sitting in their vehicle, car off, lights off, or if they are standing outside of a vehicle and you go by - they must be able to read that plate after dark.

If I recall, technically the state owns the plate.

With the Tazer the lights turn off automatically, no switch needed.
