Backup Camera Not Turning On

Put my JT in reverse today and the screen just went dark, no view. Shifter back to drive and screen went to home screen. Shifted back to reverse and the screen went dark but no picture. Did this a couple more times and camera finally turned on. Suggestions?

My backup camera went blank the other day and there is a thread on here somewhere that tells what the problem might be but most of the time it comes back on the next day like the program is updating

That’s what the dealership said and the camera was working again this morning.

At least I got the first glitch on paper in case it happens again and doesn’t come back.

Mine quit working today, I'll wait to see it the problem persists in the morning. Has anyone had backup camera issues on 2021 JTs yet? The symptom is the screen is just showing black when in reverse or when manually turning the camera on through Uconnect. No other error messages or warnings.

2/1 EDIT: I was fortunate enough to have this problem fix itself overnight. Not sure how to address it when its happening, other than to just let it sit and be grumpy for a while.

Mine stopped working. I reset my u-connect unit. Several days letter my screen was a pink/purple. Reset it and all was well.

my camera works with initial start but then is blank for any reverse gear selection during the same ignition cycle. my start stop is also not working with the dash info screen saying ESS is unavailable. I believe I read on here these two failures are linked. I haven’t had visited the dealer with these issues yet because I’m still tuning my Magnuson Super Charger and don’t want dealer screwing up anything.

Same thing happened to me today. Worked fine this morning, but when I left work it happened. Totally black screen with the words “check surroundings”.

We kindly recommend trying to capture photo/video documentation of these error messages as it will give us and your dealers a better understanding of what you're experiencing.
