Your vibration is most likely related to the amount of caster that you've got dialed in. Anything over about 4.5-5 degrees and you'll get a vibration from the front just because of the angles. Running a non-rzeppa at that angle will be even worse so you may just want to replace the rzeppa and dial back the caster a bit.

28.4 should also be fine with the rzeppa again assuming a caster of about 5-5.5 degrees. I am at 28.45 and 3 wheeled it quite a bit on all kinds of crazy shit and still on the stock shaft at 65k miles.

The wife also has a 4xe and we have to run around 5 to keep it from humming. Also the same 28.45 length front shocks and plenty of 3 wheeling and still on stock front as well at 50k
Do you have a FAD installed on you JT? It sounds like your setup is similar enough to mine and you are not seeing the rzeppa failure. Maybe I had a bad joint to begin with or the constant spinning has lead to premature failure. Either way I could replace the rzeppa and install the a FAD and just forego the driveshaft swap. Any thoughts om that?

I do have a FAD as I'm a 2021. You wouldn't be the first one to install a FAD and just replace the rzeppa with the terra flex replacement joint. I actually sent a guy an extra fad actuator I had from an axle replacement.

I personally wanted to avoid aftermarket non-cv drive shaft and built with that in mind as I wanted to minimize vibrations and wear and tear, especially on the 4xe which only unlocks full performance in 4h auto (and a spinning drive shaft)

Unfortunately, if I install a high pinion axle my dishwasher is probably going to go on the fritz and I like keeping her around 😜. I have a part time transfer case. I'm not sure if that would be any different with the drive shaft spinning full time. Maybe I will be going back to the 02 Tacoma as my daily or at least when it snows, not that we are getting any this year. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the info

Seems to me that a redesigned CV style driveshaft needs to come on the market

Install of a FAD would solve this for the most part unless your wanting to druve 50mph in 4HI .

Do you run 37s or think I should be worried about damaging the stock shaft running 37s? I'm fairly reserved in the rock but I do like to scare the kids on the road when we are getting to the rocks.

Awesome! I think I'm going to replace the rzeppa and install a FAD.

How much do I owe you for the psychiatric fees?

I really appreciate the info.

Np! Check the jl forum for retrofitting a fad, that's where the guy that I sent my part to did it and I think I saw a write up over there.

The problem with a cv shaft is that either the tcase output has to point at the pinion if you put the CV on the axle end (which is why no driveshafts are built that way, it's really hard to angle the tcase down unless you drop the motor into the axle) or the pinion needs to point at the tcase if the CV is on that end (easy to do which is why they are all built that way, but will leave you with no caster if you have a larger lift). From talking to a few driveshaft manufacturers, the double CV shafts are a balancing nightmare and tend to wear out quickly. The best option would be high angle rzeppa joints in my opinion. That or larger separation between the pinion and inner c angles.

Hello guys I'm new to all this and read all the page and watch the vid but still confused a little.

Im ordered the Accuair suspention with the upgraded JRi piggyback shocks. The default Hight is 4.0" but can go to 5.5" 25MPH and under.

I was worried that Rzeppa side my strand me on a trip so I bought this also for the front only.

Will I have issues if ever I go 4HI at speed?
I am in that boat now. I am going to just reboot the stock DS. I have the accuair system. I love it but with the Adams 1350 front driveshaft. It vibrates like hell. I can't switch to adjustable control arms due to level indicator switches. Right now i'm at a loss for an upgraded front DS that actually works.

Did you go with a solid rear driveshaft after your 4 link ? Or just do a spacer on the carrier
