got one for the jeep. you can buy a set of support arms for it but they are $1600. they're industrial strength but i dont need industrial strength.
has anyone come up with a DIY solution to utilize this channel?

i'm actively looking for parts and ideas but i'm running on a tight timeline. it took longer than planned to get the cover. then when i got it one rail had a broken part.

sidebar: i called bakflip and reported the broke part. it was a very small part but not easy to access, they sent me a whole new rail. the young lady i spoke with said she'd put a prioirity label on the rail, i had a new one at my front door 4 days after i called about the issue. for me, their customer service was awesome.

i'd like to get some support arms that are about 6-8" high. put some cross bars on them then mount a basket on them.

thx for any ideas or suggestions.

cheers, j-

I had this cover on my Silverado, didn't need support...was looking at it for my gladiator. Their customer service is phenomenal.

I’m looking for the same thing for my X4–actually taller for a canoe or kayak. I’m wondering if any towers with a flat bottom surface would work with T bolts in the channel. Should be easy enough to cut down the cross bar to get the right width. Agree on customer support for the X4–had an issue with the rubber pieces being cut too short. They sent me a replacement quickly and even sent extra parts.

I had the Yakima Overhaul HD installed in the T slot Channel.

There is a guy named What Exit who was able to source parts for a DIY rack build. I am pretty sure that the height of the racks and the width of the brackets would allow the X4 to open under it. But it would not make use of the tslots. Looks like there would be a total of 4 brackets (2 per side) that would mount under the x3 track and then you would have to try and mount the x4 tracks on top of the brackets (probably 1/8th inch thick). If you can mount the tracks, then you would have to modify the weather stripping to seal the X4 tracks to the bed.

I've heard of some guys trying to mount the Yakima Outpost set up on the Tslots, but there was concern that the X4 tracks aluminum was not strong enough to be able to hold up to a roof top tent when offroad.

Let us know if anyone gives this a try.
