the bak x4 revolver offers most of the same features at less than half the price. Only limit is being limited on rolling the cover while the rack is in place.

Thanks for the great info about your success with the X4 and the Rhino Rack parts! I just installed my X4 and am looking hard at using the Rhino Rack parts. What size Pioneer Rack did you buy and what is the name or part number for the parts that you were waiting for that allowed you to lower the rack? Also, please post if you end up finding something with taller towers that would allow the X4 to roll up.

Part of me wants to try out a new welder to copy a basic, but custom rack that someone from this forum had made up. His rack design accomodates a roof top tent and it also allowed the X4 to roll up all the way to the cab. It sounds like he tried it, but got rid of it to try something more suitable for Overlanding - so maybe it wasn't strong enough just attached to the t slots. I liked how it was just tall enough to roll up the X4, but maybe with the RTT, I should consider adding some extra width and length (for extra t bolts) to the feet of his design. After installing the tracks, it seems like if the weight of the feet is in the wrong spot, it will cause the X4's tracks to tilt inward with something heavy like a RTT.

so my parts list includes the x4, the rhino rack 60x56 pioneer platform ( 42113BF ) RLT 600, and the rhino rack quick mount pioneer spacer (qmps10) but those needed a little modifications to fit the width. A wider rack would be more ideal.

My rhino rack gear finally arrived. Got the feet and crossbars installed, and mocked up my pioneer platform. I’ve got a part coming Monday to allow me to directly attach the platform to the feet, but I think this is going to work well. Unfortunately I need quite a bit of a rise to be able to roll the tonneau with the rack or bars on, but for the intended purpose it’ll be fine.

Just ordered my Aero crossbar set with the RLT Feet for the t slot (59 inches). Did you go with the Pioneer platform rack 52 long by 56 wide? Also, the crossbars are rated for 220 lbs. Has anybody been using this for a roof top tent?

So is yours 60 long by 56 wide? I could only find the 58 wide in very long lengths.

So after I told my Toyota pal about ordering the RR crossbars and wanting the pioneer platform, he sent me a pic of the Front Runner platform with the 6 tall t slot legs. I'm not quite sure the angle on the legs would quite clear the X4, but it looks nice.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm happy to be able to get the crossbars early for my rtt and to be able to order the pioneer platform down the line if I want.

I have not specifically seen that front runner rack, but my one dissapointmeht with front runner is they run their racks with bars side to side which increases wind noise compared to the front to back rails rhino offers. And yes mine is 60 long by 56 wide. I also have no question that the aero bars can support a RTT, they are very stout.

Work in progress, Stock roll up bed cover is now at the seamstress for a customization that will allow me to put on or off the bed coverand cover the hole when the bed rack is not in used.
I still need to cut the bar to be able to drop it more in the bed!
Did you ever get the cover re-stitched to work with the Yakima rack? Interested to see pictures if its working for you.

It could work if you only roll the cover up to the front bar and not through the cab as usual.

Its winter full blast here so wanted to wait for another setup to come out as I need full access to the bed.
As I don't really like that the rack take a lot of place in the bed, also it left a bent in my side rails with the required torque they need to stay in place.
Also I cannot fit my cargo box I already own...

But that will cost more.

My plan right now is to wait on the truck hero elevate rack and install the bed cover revolver x4 that comes with t-slot mount (not advertised but confirmed by Bakflip rep)

If the the ruck hero doesnt go out I will go all in with the yakima overhaul

Looks really good. I wish I was brave enough to drill into mine.

It’s normally “measure twice, drill once” ... in this case is was more like “measure 6,7,8 times, drill once.” ... ??? - CHEERS -

I just ordered the Truck Covers USA roll cover with the Yakima track rails. It was twice the price of a hard folder but I think it will provide better security and utility.

Did you order it online & if so, where from? I see it on Truck Covers' website, but not on any resellers' site where it can be ordered. They've beat Retrax (Truck Hero) to the market on this one. Seems like the best solution for a cover and rack combo.

How much of a pain is it to access the contents in the bed without being able to open the Diamond Back cover?

try autoanything.com. They are a dealer for TCUSA and it will ship from TCUSA. The good thing about that is they will install the Yakima tracks at no additional cost.
