Still liking this tonneau? Any leaking? I had the Mopar twill soft roll up tonneau and it served the purpose but water would still get into the bed along the sides.
Yes still loving it. The only water that gets into the bed is if it's super windy while raining, even then water intrusion in very minimal. I think the cover seals really well.

Running the X4s also, first serious rain driving I got some water around the tail gate so got a tail gate seal kit that I will be installing when it warms up enough one day.
is there a specific tailgate seal Bak sells or just a generic one.? Thx.

I have a tyger T1 soft cover from Amazon, and I would recommend it. I think it is a steal.

We have done several road trips going through heavy rains and it just gets a few drops in. Most recently I had to report into work and drove in the beginning of hurricane Beryl. Once at work, it sat in the parking lot as we were pounded by the storm, and the inside was dry minus a few drips when I checked it.

I would say it is 99% dry, and that is with me having the Billie Bars brackets coming in at the sides and under the cover. I got this so I have a bike rack above the bed, but can still roll the cover back under the crossmembers

There is a brand truxseal but I used this from Amazon. Hard part is top around the sides to get a better seal. I will get back on it when the rainy season returns.

I also used the BAK MX4 for several years on my Gladiator. Also had on on the 1/2 ton Chevy that preceded the JT. That BAK served me 5 years and when I traded my Chevy I passed that cover on to my son. So it is now 10 years old and still performs great.

I was super careful on the installs and made sure to route the drain tubes for the side rails properly. I had no leaks, period, ever. The only reason I’m not running this cover still is that I found a super deal from a forum member on an RLD topper. Other than the before mentioned issue with limited height under the cover when closed, I can’t think of anything at all to criticize about the BAK product.

I had an Access roll-up tonneau to start, which was very good quality. I had one on my old Tacoma too and it held up very well.

Then I transitioned to the Fas-Top Traveller, which is a combination roll-up tonneau and canvas topper. Their bed rails are very beefy, best I've seen for a tonneau, and have another integrated T-slot rail for mounting things. You can also get just the tonneau if you want.

Now I recently ordered a Venturous Ozark cap.

Figure I'll ask in this thread instead of starting another. Looking at hard tonneau covers that essentially "lock" when the tailgate is locked. Leaning definitely towards tri-fold. The current ones I'm eyeing are:

Lowmax 20-ON Jeep Gladiator 5ft Bed (w/ Trail Rail) (Diamond Plate).
Question on this one, on the website same part number it's 1100 bux. But if I go to "outlet" store it's 759 bux. Has anyone ever used the outlet store and had good results? Link: https://shop.agricover.com/product/outletlomax

The other one is Weathertech. https://www.weathertech.com/alloycover/

Thoughts? Also they talk about "trail rails" which my buddy said it was fine without, are these required? He has the lowmax w/o trail rails.

Thanks. :)

I feel like the one person disappointed in the BAK x4s 😆

after 2 years mine is not in great shape. But it’s mostly been outside under Texas heat during that time. The end caps near the tailgate a cheap plastic. I’ve had to email them for spare replacement before but one has already broke again.
I’ve more recently had a slate come completely off the top near the tailgate end after having had it rolled up for a few days.

if I did it again I’d just buy a diamondback.

Agree on that height issue. I also use a Bak-x4s revolver rolling tonneau cover and a Apicool fridge. The Apicool fits under the cover and will hold 2 cases of beer, or subtract beer for water, soda's, and sandwich making items. Decently priced on Amazon and I have 1000's of hours on it since I also run it at home or parties as an aux fridge. Runs on the AC outlet but could run on DC. So sometimes I plug the solar generator into the AC bed plug and run the fridge off 12V outlet on the generator. That way it stays running whenever you stop for breaks. The setup works for me. Also fits in the back of wife's minivan for other family trips and works for a family of 4.

The Bak-4s is lockable and gives more piece of mind if parked somewhere for a bit. Like travelling to a hotel and all luggage is in back, you don't have to pull everything out and put in cab just to stop a a restaurant, hiking trail, or some other road stop. Can it be broken into? Sure and likely pried open easily. But will keep the casual thief away and will require a tool and a few minutes vs pulling the velcro back. The t-slots were a bonus. I bought some cheap t-slot eyelets off amazon to bungee lightweight gear on top that I didn't mind getting wet. I do get a bit of water in the bed during a heavy rain, but its very minor. Easy to install. There is at least one rack that will utilize the t-slots so you can still roll the cover up with the rack on. I'm still saving money for it.

Hope that helps.

that’s no good. Have you contacted CA at BAK? I’m sure they’d replace that if it’s within the five years.

I installed a locking retractable cover from syneticusa. It has been on for a month and I have no issues so far. I wanted something for secure store gear so I can run naked. T-slots for racks. My only complaint was the instructions were lacking. It installs on bed rails (included) and there were no instructions or mention of which bolts to use. Process of elimination for hardware. Fit and finish seem great. I got it on a sale before Father's day for less than $1000.
