Not sure which forum this belongs in, But I'm trying to figure out what is reasonable price for a used Bed would be. I've found them ranging from $800 all the way up to $5K for "almost new" Of course none are near me so I've got to pay shipping or make a very long drive. Whats reasonable for a used Gladiator bed?

Good question Eric. From time to time I think about picking one up to make a matching trailer out of. I know there are commercially available options but some things are just more satisfying to make with my own hands.
so, a follow on question to Eric’s: has anyone looked into availability in junk yards where maybe a Gladiator is totaled for front end damage? That was always our go to method for getting parts in the past but I haven’t done this sort of project for a while.

I feel the same way, There's a few junkyards out there. everyone wants something near $2k or more for a completely stripped bed. that's before shipping! Considering I can get any other brand bed for under $1000 this disparity seems ridiculous. I know of two beds under $1K but I have to go to Maine or Staten Island to get them. One recently sold near Nashville for $600 off of FB marketplace, but for me here in NW PA, I'm in a Jeep parts desert.

I’m in a search as well for the same. I’ve searched hard on line for the last couple of months, in my area UT by far have the most online, avg price is $3K, below that the threshold is mostly stripped out off wrecks and banged up pretty bad, or at least beyond my autobody repair capabilities. I hope this helps, good luck.

1K and a long drive sound like a good way to resolve this.

Cheapest price and opportunity for adventure along the way. Also random tiny food places.

Junkyards in a couple hundred mile radius dry as well?

I've been seriously considering the one in Maine, only because it's a state I've never visited and my Wife loves checking out new food places.

Junkyards in my area can't afford to buy newer stuff. They only get older junkers, and never Jeeps. I'm not sure why

Junkyards normally only deal in the things they themselves can fix up and repair, or what they've been called to pick up. If I'm feeling you right, your part of PA doesnt have many Jeeps at all, plus all the restrictions that PA laws had on them for so many years.

Heck, you might want to start a Jeep specialty junkyard, tow service and all. You'd have a mountain of extra parts across all Jeep generations plus an income stream.

Maybe you could get a McLobster. 😆

Many years ago when I was in Maine, all the McD's were advertising a McLobster sandwich.

I was going to say if the beds are so scarce in NW PA (and that must include parts of OH and NY, then maybe the 1k each (maybe a bit less after negotiations) for each on a road trip would get your bed and one to sell to pay for the trip. Plus, as you mention, you'll get to see some of the places you have never visited. (Honestly, Maine would be great but if you have never been to Staten Island, consider yourself fortunate. Although it's a borough of NYC, it gives the other 4 boroughs a bad name. I'm from NJ originally and the only time I wanted to spend in Staten Island was driving through it to get to Brooklyn and Manhatten).
