Went with Tuwa Pro rack. Mostly because of the height adjustability. I should have it tomorrow. No rooftop tent yet. Besides that's going to be set up on a trailer I'm building. This is for the kayaks and bikes etc. 870$ shipped crossbars come separate. That price is with bars.

Cool, thanks! I was debating on a few different racks but this is the one I think I’m gonna go with. I just hadn’t seen anyone talking about the difference between the bare steel and textured. I’m gonna go with textured too. You still liking the rack now that you’ve had it mounted for a while?

This is a great idea. I've been trying to think of a way to mount a canoe over my RTT. It sits on a JCR short rack. Putting/making another rack to go on the rear corners may be the solution.

Do you have your JCR clamped on the sides or mounted to Trail rail?

The Gladiator pictured was a Max Tow lifted on 38s. Our Mojave is currently on 35s with no lift (for now). I've attached a photo of our current setup.

I like this. I also like the Mesa Verde by Tuwa. The height adjustment is awesome and it looks like you could even move the cross bars to the sides in place of the "mountain" panels and remove the bar above the tailgate for full bed access when needed.

Modded Ace bed rack. Added 5inch risers then the Ace rack on top.
Needed clearance for cooler and bigger items to fit inside the bed.

I really don't like the "erector set" type of racks and all racks in the material cost vs retail price just feel like companies are absolutely fleecing consumers. I get that there is overhead, but still too much.

I used Unistrut for trail rail, Compact Camping Solutions brackets and some 1 1/4" square tubing and called it a day total cost was ~$260

Originally I thought Unistrut would work as crossbars but my Yakima tent is only 95lbs and I'm 210 and they flexed and took a slight bend.

I've since painted the new cross bars and added 1 1/4" plastic plugs, I may forego the OEM Yakima mounts and go with a traditional Ubolt type mount to save my self ~2.5" which would lower the body of the tent about a half inch below the roof line. Right now its just over.

Im happy with both, they are very high quality pieces of kit. Having said that, I can’t stand driving around with all that stuff when I’m not camping and always take it off the first chance I get.

Yes! I have to slide the tent back a bit off the center but it's still secure

It used to be all I saw was 23Zero roof top tents in the space they play, now all the Vloggers have ROAM RTT's does anyone have an explanation as to how or what brought about this shift to Roam RTT's?
