I really don't like the "erector set" type of racks and all racks in the material cost vs retail price just feel like companies are absolutely fleecing consumers. I get that there is overhead, but still too much.

I used Unistrut for trail rail, Compact Camping Solutions brackets and some 1 1/4" square tubing and called it a day total cost was ~$260

Originally I thought Unistrut would work as crossbars but my Yakima tent is only 95lbs and I'm 210 and they flexed and took a slight bend.

I've since painted the new cross bars and added 1 1/4" plastic plugs, I may forego the OEM Yakima mounts and go with a traditional Ubolt type mount to save my self ~2.5" which would lower the body of the tent about a half inch below the roof line. Right now its just over.

Very nice setup. Do you have a link for the brackets? It looks like the factory tonneau cover would work with them.

JCR half rack with CVT Mt. Shasta Extended Summit

Can you get the poles in to open the opening on the cab side with your half rack?

We have a Datin Fab bed rack with a Softtopper underneath that we've used for the last year and a 1st Gen Smittybilt RTT that we've used for the last four years. It has been a great combination overall. The only downside is accessing the front of the bed is difficult since there is very limited openings on the sides. It's a minor issue that I may address later on but for now it works great.

That is the ARS Hi-Riser system with all the accoutrements (Stage 5). It has the optional accessories added in and that rig belongs to Modern Jeeper Adventures.

iKamper Mini on Fishbone Half rack. I wanted low profile to keep wind resistance and noise down while driving and a hardshell to calm down the wind when up, lots of windy conditions in my areas. Solid so far and doesn't seem to cut mpg, Mini is less than 125 lbs. That bedrack has many mount options for accessories when I need them.
