Bedliner or bed mat?

I have a new to me JTD Willys that I will add a folding tonneau cover to. I am considering getting a Bedliner sprayed in first or using a high quality bed mat (e.g., WeatherTech). I will use the bed to haul light building materials, yard waste, bags of mulch and other Harry Homeowner things. Any pro’s and con’s or recommendations? Thanks.

Bed mat will trap moisture. Bed mat will move around whether it's empty or loaded, rubbing the paint.

Spray-in liner is the way to go.

Bed mat for me. I don’t care about scratches in the bed it’s a truck. I don’t like liners. Just my opinion

I vote for both. My Ram truck has a spray-in bed liner and I put a bed mat on top. The liner protects the tailgate as well as the floor and sides of the bed but the liner by itself is too slick, stuff slides around on it. The mat keeps cargo in place, keeps sharp corners from digging into the liner, and also provides some cushioning when things get dropped.

I haven't gotten around to having a liner sprayed in my JT bed. I do have a bed mat to protect the bed and keep things from sliding around, though. It is heavy rubber. I don't think it moves around or damages the paint underneath but I guess it could if the bed wasn't clean first. I have a tonneau cover so moisture isn't usually a problem.

I went with this and very happy with it. Very light, non abrasive to the truck bed as it won't move and the payload remains in place. Very easy to install.

You can also get extensions to the side walls and tail gate.

Instead of sticking the Velcro strip directly to the truck bed, I used a long static cling tape on the painted truck bed and stuck the velcro adhesive to that. In future if I want to get rid of this, all I have to do is to peel the static cling off - leaving no residue.

I have both. The bed matt is great as it is fitted to the bed and provides inpact protect form then being tossed into the bed. Also is easier on my knee's...

neither one will have mattered when you trade it in for the next one.

Bedliner for sure, but why not both? I thought about getting a bed mat for better traction.

Use both. Liner to keep from rusting and non skid mat for floor protection.

Mine came with Mopar spray liner. Added a bed Matt for two reasons. I can throw heavy stuff in and push it around without tearing up the liner. And the Matt keeps light stuff from just sliding around.

I did the Line X, followed by a Smartliner. I like the way the smart liner form-fits and doesn't move. Also being rubberized, things don't slide around. No complaints so far.
