Speaking of screens.

You now what's wild - you have to navigate the screen in the Colorado to turn the headlights on and off.

Call me old school, but I find it handy to just TURN A KNOB to operate my headlights since sometimes I want them to not be DRL or not be auto, etc.
That’s dumb. Can’t easily flash your lights for cop ahead, your lights are off, clear to merge, etc.

Reminds me of the old Crown Vic that used to prowl around there! Lol!

In all fairness, that Subaru could be called the "Bypass Special.". You know because it still has its bumpers. 😂
I'm not saying the Subaru is as capable as a bison or any of the vehicles in this comparison, but playing devils advocate... what percentage of Jeeps running the Hell's revenge badge even ran Hell's gate? Escalator? Any of the hot tubs? He probably did as much of the trail as most of them do.

Even better, a knob not involving CANBUS or any control module; just be a switch. I guess I could quit griping and rewire stuff.

After watching this video, my immediate thought was how much better my JTRD would have done than the Mojave in everything but the high speed course. I would put it against all of them especially with the 2 inch lift and 35's I put on it. (I would have gone to 37's but didn't feel like the expense of re-gearing, as I do a lot of towing with it). The torque of the diesel is phenomenal in off road situations, sure wish they still made them ! I agree with so many of the folks on here that say there are many other reasons a Gladiator was my choice. Having owned many Jeeps over the years, (CJ 5,6,7, and 8's) I knew the drawbacks when compared to a closed truck, but I truly missed the open air possibilities the other trucks lack. I've got both sets of doors, full and safari, and both hard and soft tops, and use them all for the various seasons.

I'm a mid size truck lover, but since I own a company that has 3 full sized trucks of various configurations, I can get one when I need it. My old daily, (before I switched to the Hummers), for about 12 years was a 2003 Chevy Crew cab short bed Duramax/Allison. You just get tired of driving a big truck after 12 years, so I decided to give it to the business and get what I always wanted from the first time I saw one, a Hummer H3T Alpha. I loved both of the 2 Hummer H3T's I ended up getting, both were Alphas, but the second one was an Alpha Adventure, a highly capable off roader for sure, right in there with my JTRD. But I really missed the convertible options of a Jeep, even though both H3T's had the HUGE PANO sunroofs. In 2018, because I had a chance to make 3 grand on it, after putting 40K miles on it, AND the Gladiator was supposedly coming out, I sold the H3T Alpha Adventure. Then, in 2019, I couldn't wait any longer for the Gladiator to come out, (it was taking forever !!), so I bought a Ford F 150 Raptor. I put 50K on it, before getting my JTRD. I LOVED the Raptor as well, and it NEVER needed to go back to the dealer, despite what some guys on here are saying about Fords, (unlike my Gladiator that continues to have to go back for the same issues). It also average 18 MPG's, not bad for such a bad ass truck.

Even with it's warranty issues and the diesel recall, I still love my JTRD, and would probably buy another one, but after owning the diesel, I probably couldn't stand any other engine in it. I've driven several 3.6's, the Hybrid, and the turbo 4 cyl, and none made me smile like the diesel does. Maybe a 392 would work, I haven't tried one of those. Trouble is I'm used to getting 23 average MPGs now. That's not going to happen with a 392, or a 3.6 for that matter.

Probably low, but there are other single obstacles that it would never have taken, including the entire optional exit trail.

And you are right, there are boasters out there who in their ice cream Jeep (built, but clean) say they did Hell's Revenge and took the bypasses. LOL.

Truth is, Hell's Gate is only extreme for phobias. Not so technically challenging for the machine itself. I watched a Kia do that. They did modify it by removing sway bars, adding larger tires, and a skid plate, but it made it. Of course it was driven by the son of Dan Mick, who blazed most of the major trails there, including Hell's Revenge.

Hells Gate has been done in a stock AWD Chrysler Town & Country minivan. ;)

Has it been "conquered" so many times that the new trend is to try making it in the least capable or most unlikely vehicle possible?
