In case anyone can use my install as a guide, I figured I'd share. I want to give a "shout out" to the folks that contributed to this post because I went to school on it:

I went with the "less is more" approach went cutting to grill. As you can see from the pic, the cuts made left and right of the lock don't match. It was necessary to cut away more from the right side in order to make room for the fob to clear. I'll sleep on it the way it is for now. Maybe I'll wind up cutting the left side to match the right, IDK. I did use stainless steel bolts and locking nuts instead of the rivets. Maybe I could have gotten a key made so as not to have to deal with the fob? idk

fwiw.

Clean install - looks great. Did you consider the option of replacing the oem hood latches with locking ones?

Thanks. Yeah I did. Some folks opined that they're easily defeated. But, I see the benefit in that a casual thief, seeing hood locks, will move on to an easier target. Hood locks are "short money", I'll probably pull trigger on that.

I just cut that whole "X" out on the grill rather than leave the leftover ends. To each their own, but that is how mine ended up. And I really like having the Bolt lock! In this day and age all vehicles should have hood security, especially if left out with access from the street. That security should be in place from the manufacturer. If you worry about being locked on the trail unlock it before you go.

Looks like a bit of an eye sore (especially that close), but if it works for you then just leave it.

I do see what you mean. I guess the good part about not cutting too much at first is I can always make adjustments.

Yours looks really nice. I wish I could have had the right side match the left, but the fob prevented the key from being inserted all the way. I think I may just cut the rest of the loose pieces back and call it good. I'm just happy to have a hood lock.
