Try sliding the JT sideways thru a turn at 70mph in the dirt full opposite lock and then tell me you're bored with it. At that point I don't have much for you. Skydiving with no chute? Russian roulette? Fortunately I can still get the adrenaline pumping in the JT although at this point it usually takes making the wife get out first as her tolerance for riding the edge isn't quiet up there enough.

Seems kind of small minded when the Rubicon Trail our vehicles are named after is in California - along with a ton of other excellent wheeling.
Yup! Especially NorCal!

Done that! Crossed a few skinny spots on a mountain side where my wife got out, and took the dog, too!

Calif has it's problems but for off road it's one of the best. Suspension mods and tires are not a problem.

And a ton of great off road shops are based there.

So, in lieu of making a horrible financial decision and trading in a paid-off 2020 JTR with 48K miles, I'm searching for ideas to break the boredom of the truck (and appease my dopamine deficit). I did the basic/usual upgrades in the first year of ownership, five years ago (e.g., Falcon 3.3, Method wheels, 37"s, Clayton lift, RPM 2.5 ton steering...blah blah).

What would you do next? How would you reignite the spark that I once had for my JTR? Every relationship needs to be spiced up a little bit (and don't say Hemi swap...I've been down that road).

I wouldn't necessarily say I "wheel" this truck as much as I used to; however, I played with the idea of focusing more on a Ranger Raptor "competitor." This is now my daily driver after I had to sell my beloved Kei truck (thanks, Ohio).

Daily driver..... don't wheel it... Use it? for what? load capacity is crap and with a cap it is less.... Perhaps take it on the trails and see what it does well and what it doesn't and go from there.

Coil overs are both nice and a PITA. They need to be set up correctly to work well. They need to come to temp before the work well. That mean valving for the intended use, load, and driving style. If this is a daily road machine going to a full coil over setup is just throwing money in the fire.

Make it fun to drive tighten up the suspension, Hop up the power and tune the trans now it is a sport truck road machine. But then again if you are like my grand kids it is only fun for a few minutes before they get board.

Plan some trips to different off-road terrain, then you'll just be bored with Ohio :)

Seriously, just getting on totally different trails for me in my JT or on my mountain bike/skis seriously rejuvenates my interest. I even get bored with my local terrain in Montana, but annual trips to the PNW or Utah really helps, or hunting for some regional route I've never done. Not saying you need to come West, but what about UP Michigan, or doesn't Indiana have dunes? The Idaho dunes are on my list the next time I get bored.
