Well. I was gonna add this to the other cam thread but no cam do. So I started a new thread.
Basically when you cams fail it allows pretty rich transients to escape into the exhaust. Doing this for more than a couple weeks pretty much ensures catalytic failure.
I looked at stock, and while pricey it was not crazy. Then I looked at the Magnaflow retrofits, and they are priced pretty good and I like Magnaflow.
Then I looked at the afe stuff and really liked it. I ordered it but it never arrived ?
While waiting for a month I pit some thermal couples near the first muffler, out of curiosity. What I found is within 200 seconds of run time the entrance reaches 900F.
So I started looking harder at that Kooks green 3" converter I had on my shelf. I was thinking I would just replace my muffler with it. Then I was looking around at bullets thinking maybe I could retain some of the muffler function, this led me to a Craven stainless bullet.
All the parts arrived today and I started fabbing up my new mid pipe. I am hoping this setup is a little more robust if any more failures happen and it is way easier to reach. I could also fab an off road pipe for wheeling trips.
