Can the low crossbars be combined with the 12" or 18" racks?

Would like to mount skis and snowboards below if possible.

Yes they can!! It's like having a twin tiered bed rack.

You can add one, or two, or as many as nine crossbars down low.

This is what it would look like with nine bars, it's basically a full cargo platform.

I am wondering if there’s some way down the line if kbvoodoo and company can fabricate a front/rear hatch/door that could enclose the rack in some way?

I am split between around an 18" rack and the 12" bed rack for a rtt. I also have to have a spare 40" tire taking up bedspace for wheeling trips.

Regarding rack height: I like the 12" for small tents, but longer tents need to go over the cab, so 22" for them.

That cover looks like it might be compatible. Can you measure the total width for me, I couldn't find dimensions online.
