Took off this morning noticed a loud banging sound coming from the rear. Looked in my PS mirror and saw my rear wheel bouncing around all over the place as I was driving, found a safe slot to park and inspect it and got this. 3/5 wheel studs completely severed off.

I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer but this should be covered under warranty? Only issue I could see them maybe bringing up is I'm on 35s. Anyone have had anything similar happen?

Not sure the warranty will help with this unless the dealer installed the 35’s. I would look into the last service that touched the lug nuts......

Have you checked the rest of your lug nuts and studs? I’ve seen these break on other vehicles due to a few factors but 35’s should not be the cause.

That would be the dealership. Been using the Jeep Wave. Funny thing is it was supposed to go in for the third oil change, rotation and the PCM recall.

I did, the front two look good. The rear DS has the lugs angled on a couple. You really have to look at it to really see it.

I would be having a chat with the dealer then. A good dealer will take care of you. Good luck!

Sounds like the issue is as others have already stated. The lugs were installed improperly And the additional strain likely from a combination of over torque and/or misalignment caused them to break.

I would do a very close inspection of the rest by removing the wheels and inspecting the threads and angle of the studs. Likely you have a few others that are compromised.

Luckily a new set of 5 studs from ARP are only about 35$. Installing them isn’t the most fun though ?

If your wheels aren't hub-centric, the service techs may have just used the lug nuts via air gun to center each stud in its respective hole, then gone back around to tighten everything up when all lug nuts were on. Bad way to do it (from my own stupidity). Now I hand tighten each lug and lift the wheel a bit so there's not so much strain in the components. Kind of a pain but I've not had any more issues. I doubt the service techs are taking the time and patience to do it that way.

That wheel looks pretty chewed up.
And, “Warn hubs,” on the rear? Really?

LOOK at the Lug Nuts.. those do not look like my 2021 Lug Nuts.. I have no 2020 to compare too, Those look like JK Lug nuts which are not METRIC.. Check for the correct Lug Nuts.
