Those poor bronco boys need to catch a break one of these days. Reading the 6g forum made me realize how good we have it with the ordering process and all these no-bs dealers on here like gupton. I can't imagine going through a 1-2 year wait for your truck, having it sit outside in the elements for months on end before delivery, and then having an engine failure after dealing with all that.

Well those dealers should of not been marking them up. The ordering process is a lot better now, if you go to the right dealer. The one I'm dealing with has said 3 or 4 months on delivery and I've spoke to 3 now that have ordered and got theirs within 3 months, no markup, one is a buddy of mine and two yesterday at the gas station who ordered through Hilbish as well. I'm not saying they didn't drop the ball because they most certainly did, but now some of these dealers that were doing markups are getting passed over on their orders.

I'm not going to pretend to understand how or why Ford is implementing the bronco allocation system they are for different dealers, it just seems like a mess and makes me appreciate the dealers we have on here that are vetted and have the ordering process down to a damn science with no surprises.

It’s because Ford is more concerned with making their dealers happy and not their customers. As stated I’m sure ordering is great now for new customers who seem to be able to go to any dealer who knows what’s going on and order a Bronco and get a vin pretty quick.

For the rest of us we’re goin on 2 years since we reserved. We had a years worth of misinformation from Ford and Dealers, changing policies and allocation issues. Most dealers would tell me they don’t know what they’re going to charge for the Bronco or refused to put anything in writing. In the end a lot of us chose, “the wrong dealer(s)” and we’re getting punished for it. It’ll probably be 3-4 years for some of us, I know at least 2.5 years for us from when we reserved according to the dealer and their allocation estimates.

Just wait till Ford has to replace the hard top 2.0 for hard top 3.0 soon since it’s delaminating again. Plus all the current trapped Broncos in a snowy field, it’s a mess. I gave up on following along closely, they ruined the surprise I had in store for my wife so I just spend my time here bad mouthing them instead ?

Yeah it's a total shit show for sure. The guy who handles it at Hilbish said they knew in October of 2020 it was going to be a mess based on some the emails they were getting on the situation. He said they made a decision to not even take orders until July of 2021 for those reasons. They actually had 2 on the lot in October on last year but they got reserved for purchase as soon as they got on the lot. A 2 door with the 2.3 and a 4 door with the 2.7, both got reserved with a $5000 payment to hold until available for sale. Whoever reserved them just took delivery of them last week, I know the 4 door had 3300 miles on it first of January because my neighbor test drove it. Apparently they were allowing people at the dealership to take them home for the weekend as well. I wouldn't like that if I had put down a deposit but I guess they maybe knew the deal.

My 2021 GMC with the decades old 6.2L gas motor had bad lifters and was torn down for replacement. GM got a bad batch of parts, when mine was down the dealer had another 5 waiting on replacement parts. There was a build date range.
This happens in any industry. Its not karma, its shitty parts that made it past QC.
We are all tired of hearing about part and labor shortages, but when you cant find people to run a plant and materials are scarce, shit happens. Shit happens in the best of times too.
Spoke as only a suburban philly person could say it. Well Said!!

Those were probably mannequins. They are models that the dealerships have to hold for x amount of months for test drives before they can sell them.

And you hit on a common theme - "I won't buy first year...xxxxx" or "it must be good it's been around for xx years".
Both are BS - why? Because every year things get changed. Cam profiles, minor mods, tunes, whatever, all to meet CAFE and EPA rules, or to get more power and so on.
Look at the 3.6 - you'd think an engine around for a decade would have zero issues. And for the most part that's true - but how many cams have been replaced in the last couple of years in Gladiator engines? It's a decade old engine - Millions of miles........
Yeah, but things change.
The 2.7 has been around - but what's different between the earlier versions and those used in Bronco?
The 3.6 has been around - but apparently there are differences between the 3.6 used in WK2 and JT for example. Why? Because the TSB for engine misfire caused by spark plugs ONLY applies to WK2 -not JT.
They may be the same basic 3.6, but different tunes, cams, assembly plants.............
Pick any engine in the last 70 years and you'll find constant changes even if the displacement was the same and the outward appearances are the same or similar.
I had a V6 Rebel that had the same drivetrain (engine-tranny) and it felt completely different than the JT. There's so much mapping and other things involved with the control units outward and even internal mechanical components are less relevant than the programming

Yeah, they were demos, I had called and asked about buying them when I saw them on the lot but they said two people had already drop deposits down on them to buy them when they got released for sale. The guy we did our build through told us they were requiring a $5000 deposit to buy either of them.

And lets not forget this very nice 3.6 Pentastar started out in the Grand Cherokee in 2011 with horrible cylinder head issues. Extended Warranties out to 150K for some ( me) users. Still a pretty good and reliable engine. Motors are like life, ain't no nirvana!

Yeah, they were mannequins. I called multiple dealers in Colorado about getting a 2 door and nobody would even give me the time of day to discuss it. I actually saw a 2 door on a lot on Kauai 3 days ago when I drove by, surprised me. I mostly just feel bad for my wife, I surprised her and now she’s just disappointed.

Cost reduction can take a tried and true design and introduce new weaknesses. FCA bragged about the money they saved pushing vendors for lower cost parts (and face it, in many cases quality is going to suffer when you push suppliers for cost reductions). Stellantis appears to be taking the exact same path.

Last week I took a long hard look at why I put an order in for a Bronco. I originally wanted either a Gladiator or a Bronco, but decided to put a deposit down on a Bronco thinking I don't really need a bed. (currently have a Ram 1500.) Had a few things change my mind last week and not having a truck bed was a deal killer.

That and first year teething issues led me back to the Gladiator. Cancelled my Bronco order and put a deposit down on a Gladiator the same day. (I will say that 2.7 pulls strong and the Bronco rides really nice.)

My wife and I test drove the Gladiator and I thought to myself, yes...this is the one that I wanted all along. I'm really a truck guy after all. :like:

And this impacted the 5.3s too.

A friend of mine has a 2021 5.3 Yukon and it went in for lifters with 9k miles on it.

So far so good I'm glad I cancelled my order for a Bronco.

I originally preferred it because it drove better on the road. I wanted the much greater cargo room in the Gladiator but didn't need it. I did need a cargo area large enough to handle a dog kennel.

I was pretty surprised when I actually got to drive a 4 door and found that.
1) The cargo area was small Very small. (about the size of a Wrangler's. I expected a bit larger).

2) The interior looked and felt cheap. Lots of crappy rubbery materials with horrible feeling switches. Leather options were terrible. In most cases you couldn't get simple black, tan, or grey.

I went and test drove a Mojave and it drove nearly as well as a Bronco on the road and with a topper has all the room I could ever want.

I do miss the power. The 2.7 can get to almost 400 hp and 400 ft-lbs of torque with nothing more than a tune from a vendor who will offer a powertrain warranty.
