Also, if the resin printer works great, it can produce two at one time... But the higher temp resins cost $37+ a bottle... Will take 1 bottle to produce 1 set of lights. The higher temp resins take a longer time to cure each layer, so it will probably take a day to produce a set. Then you have to wash it and let it cure under UV light for a little bit. But if this process works, it's a lot less post processing. If all this comes together I'll purchase more resin printers and work on manufacturing.

If I make it to manufacturing, I'll probably start off with one or two models at first. Then work on producing more models.

My new resin printer will be here sometime next week. So maybe I'll have a few prints by the weekend.

The lights with the oval trailer lights are combat off road lights.

I will still make a version like these as well.

I will look into the measurements of the rectangular lights and see if I can make them work too!!!
That would be great option.

If you do go to a manufacturer…. you’re better off with a NDA then a patent for the time being.

Patents take a very long time and while pending…other companies will copy your idea if they see a possibility for profit. Plus, if it really takes off, china will definitely copy them.

Also, start watermarking your images you post anywhere online.

Best of luck

In all honesty, I'll probably never make back the time and money spent on creating all of this. I find it fun and enjoy doing it. If China starts creating them, then even better, at least every one would be able to get a set at a reasonable price...

I would be more than happy to give my 3d printing files to people so they could print them for their self if I knew they were only going to use them for their self and not take my work and sell them to others.

I don't even imagine that many people are going to know about my lights and want them. So at the moment, I would just like to help the members here out and give them something other jeeples won't have :)

The fastest way to ruin a good hobby is to turn it into a job. I'd say outsource your designs for production, and instead spend your time finding more fun new designs for other applications.

And I'd prefer a design which takes off the shelf oval tail lights. More choice for the lights, and cheaper to replace as they eventually go bad. Seeing lights with blown segments on the road, so it eventually happens.

There will be one with off the shelf oval lights.

You can already buy some like these from combat off-road. Just a little expensive

Sorry if I happened to miss it along the way, but would this type of resin be paint friendly?

If lucky enough to score a set I would want to color match them........I think it would look killer.

Yes, everything should be able to be painted to match your vehicle.

I'll take pictures tonight, of the one I have been working on that will be on my vehicle soon... Has taken a lot of sanding to get all the layer lines out, but now looks like a production part... Just giving the paint a few days to cure.

Still sanding the other side lol. Might finish that tonight and paint it tomorrow... Hopefully have my tail lights installed this weekend.
