Finally got my much anticipated Builtright system after several weeks and it’s missing three of the nuts for the trail rail attachment. The website doesn’t list them separately and they took a week to answer my last email. Does anyone have another source for these that is more responsive?

Hit up Matt on Facebook, there's a BuiltRight insiders group and he's very responsive there.

Am I missing something with this $230 kit? He said in the video it is still a Unitstrut product. I priced everything out and looked at other members setups and it can be done for less than $100 and some work on my part? Is this higher price point just for buying and installing without having to put any work in?

The unistrut you are compaaring it to is not the same depth as the custom ordered product they are selling , and yup you are paying for a custum depth product cut, drilled and finished with end caps. Other brand names electricians use are B-Line, and Kidorf, all of them come in galavanized, aluminum, stainless and plastic, with an array of fasteners and brackets, so much more then HD or Lowes carry. I would think a shallower strut, spaced out on fender washers perhaps would meet the requirement to have same thickness as factory. But then again, I've seen the factory item at around $300 with the four tiedowns included....just saying......jack

Standard strut channel is the wrong depth to serve as a true spec replacement option to the trail rails. they are also powder coated for both appearances and durability.
Definitely worth the money.

Got ya. So the depth is really the only selling point along with being cheaper than Mopar. That makes sense I guess if you are planning on using ONLY Mopar tie downs with the channel? If one is making their own tie downs as most seem to do than the depth doesn't really seem to matter. Their system looks pretty close to the standard 1 - 5/8th" commonly sold in big box stores.

You could get shallower, and you can get 1/2" threaded inserts, I'm an electrical boss, and can pick up used or left over pieces and parts,. I'm on the fence about getting the Mopar system because of the easily movable tie downs. Not sure I would put the front piece on just cause the big item you are trying to stuff in your little bed might not fit with tailgate closed. I have ordered a RSI Evo Cap for my Mojave (which is built but not ready to ship yet), and am thinking of getting a rail system to mount the clamps to for now until I drill it. I think the Mopar stuff is better and stronger then the Unistrut, but both are fine!.....Jack

Has anyone successfully used the BuiltRight rails to mount a truck topper? I'm looking at adding a Softopper and want to confirm if I can use the official rails clamp.

That's a good question - I'll try to confirm. If the cover fits with the OEM Mopar rails, it'll fit with ours, though.

Yes! See below!

You can find them at most hardware stores. Look near the electrical boxes and such. The 1/4in nuts that we include with the panels will work great, but I believe the panels will accept a 3/8in bolt just fine as well!

Don't need a better video - you're first one was great. Don't worry about being fancy, just be genuine!

Tie downs coming for sure! Here's one I've been kicking around (this is plasma cut, but production would be done on the laser for clean edges and then tumbled to round the sharp edges). Will be making some changes from here, but you get the idea.

Any special requests or ideas? Attachments on my 'wish list' include maxtrax mounts, spare tire mounts and a bike rack solution.

Matt

Did these tie downs ever become a reality? I don’t see them on the website.

Just curious how many of the DIY trail rail cargo management systems are holding up... I am thinking about ordering the Builtright kit for $255, or wondering if should just pay the extra $40 and get the Mopar factory kit from BAM for $295? I plan on using it for a JCR rack, soft tonneau, and possibly one or 2 Molle panels. Thanks

No issues with my built right rails or the DIY Home Depot tie downs. I use them all the time for work and play.

yeah. I just got my built right, its nice for a plug and play - coated product you can just bolt on.
But its not anything more than coated unistrut with the holes in the right spots. I went to Lowes the day before to buy unistrut and DIY but they could not cut it for me and only sell 10' increments. So I bought the built right stuff.

I got my BuiltRight rails on sale for about $217. I priced out about $120 to do it myself. For $97 difference I figured the plug and play solution was worth it to have the nice finish and nice caps.

Highly Interested in some of the bed rail attachments, (bike rack, and riser attachments). Will they work with the OEM bed rails?

Mine are holding up fine, stainless with stainless eye bolts, the B-line 316 stainless was expensive and small order at supply house didn’t help but I love it, I hate painting. Three per side is plenty of tie downs, front is actually in the hole in front of bed.....Jack
