I have the ARB stubby that is getting put on this weekend but am running the Apex Badlands 12k. This winch had to be installed on the bumper before the bumper could be thrown on my Jeep. I am not sure what the mounting setup is like on your Smittybilt but if you're able to compare the two, it may give you a better idea.

The RR HD Stubby is on my short list of bumpers.
yep, I was going to go with that too, until I found the JK Hardrock with the winch plate for $250…. I added the shackle mounts in place of the crush cans, and left the plastic off. Texture paintEd and it matches the hardtop very well. Now I need to refine the bumper a little more with some trim pieces/finishing panels… like the Maximus3 back panels, and their winch and grill surrounds… maybe a winch overrider bar.

How thick is the metal in it?
I may not be the best judge and I didn't measure anything but it feels pretty sturdy. I had purchased a Oedro Bumper from Amazon and returned it previous to the RR. The RR feels twice as strong as that one.

So this is actually the one in my shopping cart right now after a week of intense research. I was leaning towards the motobilt crusher, it looks really good, but I don't want to have to go powder coat it after it arrives. (hitting little moab the weekend after I get my bumper installed) and I haven't seen any info regarding the motobilt crusher and the swaybar dc' protection. I order it on Monday! woop woop, super excited

The only thing I found on their website was 2.55mm and 12 gauge steel. How thick is the winch plate?

Looking through the Q&A on RR's website and they claim the winch plate is rated to 12.5K, so should be good there.

Also speaking of the metal found this as well -
Yes the bumper is 2.5mm thick, but all structural components (winch tray, connection points, etc...) are at least 6mm thick steel. We made the skin thinner for weight reasons and it allowed for a better design.

I went with the EVO Quarter Pounder. It allows for the disconnect to be flipped up out of the way. You'll have to chop the "tusks" off, but overall, I love the look and reduction in hang up points. Here are some pictures. The Red squares are the frame tusks, the yellow circle is the disco. The next picture shows the stock bumper after the flip and chop because I didn't have the bumper yet.
What is this disconnect flip you mention?? Is there a write up on how to do it or was it part of the QP install?

not every bumper has the room to allow for it. If you are using a standard winch plate, you likely cannot. There is a video by the guy everyone seems to hate on YouTube if you look up Quarter Pounder install. It’s really simple. You just need to remove the mount bolt that connects to the rubber mount and spin the motor up and use a new M10x1.50x100mm bolt, 2 - M10 flat washers, 1 - 3/8 x 2.25" split spacer. I’ll try and take a pic as well.

You DONT have to drill the motor like the install instructions for the bumper say. Just flip and use the other threaded bolt connection.
