I've looked at the tent cot combos off and on for years. At one point, I had it figured out how to mount it to the top of my CJ5.

This style would be pretty easy to mount, I think. That was before RTTs were really a thing.
I go back to the idea every now and again. Then again, I've had my eye on a tent trailer just about as long. This particular one.

Now that I'm back to a pickup, the bed tent works pretty well. Especially since I'm all in for just over $200. Saved that in overnight fees the first trip out. But...

That’s what I do. The funny part is I’ve been outdoors my whole life. Own a pile of high end sleeping bags, packs, tents from singles to 6 people and enough gear to take a platoon with me (wife kids and grandchildren). When I go by myself it’s this setup with a foam pad, a sleeping bag appropriate to the night temps and a small cooler and I’m out the door!!!

I’m up in the Snowy’s in WY this weekend. Will post some pics tomorrow when I come off the mountains.
Just a couple of pics. Howling winds, snow, temps in the 30s and good friends doing what they do best!

Ok all, mostly packed up and checked out to go up into Denali National Park, and then a slow ride down the Denali Highway. Be back on Friday. I'll get things and stuff posted as fast as I can.

I cannot promise I will not fall down a cliff twice, like last week. Don't worry, gravity has yet to defeat me.

Wish me luck.
(Also, taking my Woodford Reserve with me. For medicinal purposes. And science!)

Is there a camping meal thread ? I see a breakfast one. I want food for 3 days that I have zero meal prep or cook time. Fine with beef jerky :D
Others have mentioned Mountian House and Peak, but theres a couple more that are really good but not well known outside the midwest...

Mamoos Camp Kitchen - https://www.etsy.com/shop/MamoosCampKitchen?dd_referrer=https://www.google.com/

Essential Provisions Field Food - https://essentialprovisions.com/?srsltid=AfmBOorKXtmKYmFC_gfo39DCmSHHACAW0V8H6YHvpbrJar8F4b6Rtft3

Mamoos is full of flavor Louisiana cooking. They have a big menu thats always changing.

Essential Provisions only has a few options, but are stupid easy to prepare. We found them while at Overland of America and they asked us to try out thier Bison Stew. We really liked it.

Much appreciated. I've got some leftovers from our sloppy joes on Sunday freezing in a sous vide bag. I'll have that Thursday night so I don't have to deal with buns very long. Friday night I have some leftover chicken breast from Olive Garden (surprisingly decent---still not sure why we were there) in a sous vide bag. Saturday night I'll have some tuna salad (not expecting much but we'll see) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Starkist...9655?sid=73a1e9bc-3c9e-4e80-8990-3ef532aee977

My thoughts are the frozen food will help my other stuff stay cold (drinks). The sous vide bags will just require reheating over my little camp stove and are molded specifically to my camp stove pot. We'll see how it goes. Two nights of "hot" meals and a night of likely "meh". I'll get a real meal in Moab or Hanksville on Sunday as I go home towards Salt Lake City.

I may have to grab some of your items and give them a test drive at home. Again, thanks for the links!
