I just put my m8000 on my JT. Ive had the wire on for close to 15 years, cable is still in great shape. I was wondering can I use steel for the first wrap to help with heat control and then use synthetic for the rest of the wraps?

How are you going to attach the two together??? I've never seen it done. This is the first time someone ever thought of it. I would either run one or the other. But not what you are wanting to do.

The steel braids small wires/burrs would absolutely shred that synthetic line. Quality synthetic will have heat control wrap for the first layer as is.

Not sure that synthetic rope would last at all in that configuration. I believe that’s what a rope sleeve is for.
