I have been having an on and off CarPlay issue with my 7" radio in my 21 JTR. Most times, no issue. Get in, pops up, connects and music. Every now and then though, nada. I do use a wireless Car Play module but I narrowed it down to the head unit. Nada meaning no option to connect, no CarPlay. When it happens, I have tested with the wireless and a hard wire USB, mutltiple USB cables. Then, either next time I start the truck, or sometimes while driving everything loads up and just works. I have tried both the dash USB and the one in the center console. Dash will sho nothing on the phone, no charge, nothing connected. Center console shows charging but no other connection.

Any ideas, has anyone seen this? It is driving me nuts.

So I have the larger head unit in a 2021 Sport S and have a similar issue. Iphone 12+ pro or whatever - the big one, and it has a 50/50 chance of connecting when I start the truck. If CarPlay doesn't start I just unlock the phone, while wired, and it will connect. Usually a one and done fix as it will continue to work while I am running errands etc. Next day is when the maybe/maybe not connection issue occurs (again).
Although I cannot comment on the wireless connection I do know there are some having connection issues with the new model 15 and the USB type C connector - not plugged in all the way. Going Android today so I will see if this makes a difference.

Wish I had an answer but I can only share my personal experience. This is honestly the only head unit, in the vehicles I have owned, that has ever given me fits like this.

It's the uconnect software. I had this issue quite a bit with my previous SAMSUNG S22 Ultra and I was disappointed to see it happening with my new IPHONE 15 Pro, although not as often. I've switched cables and right now I even use the Iphone cable that came with my phone so it's definitely not the cable.

All the electronics from various sources is a hit or miss situation. Sometimes mine connects when I get in the car using. BT dongle. Sometime just opening up the iPhone gets it going. Sometimes I have to forget and re-pair the BT connections.

The 7" is a terrible radio and the wrong radio choice from Jeep for a Jeep. Carplay screen is tiny and continuously disconnects. I no longer use Carplay due to connection issues. I only listen through BT. I despise this POS and hate that it reverts to FM radio every time I start my JT. Currently looking for options that won't cost an arm and a leg like the Alpine, Stinger or EOM 8.4. There are just a few options that retain most factory settings accessed through the OEM radio. Phoenix, AUCar and Linkswell. The only one that is affordable is the Phoenix but I hear their customer support is terrible.

I thought of upgrading as well but the only one that is water resistant and reliable is the Alpine. $$$! Though. Singer is not, though it is nice. IA's new model looks to be a SShow.

I don't have an issue with the screen on the 7, I have the RAM Mount kit and the Apple MagSafe with adapter, also the RAM X Mount for off road. Point being is it puts the phone in front of me for GPS and music. I wish there was a way to reset, hard power cycle the radio without pulling the fuse.

It is deffinatly the radio, it just "forgets" it has CarPlay. One time we were going for a long ride and then just out of no where it opened CarPlay, like an hour or so later. This was after initially trying this and that, rebooting, cable changes etc. But then it will work fine for days or weeks, no issue.

its definitely on the trucks side. me and the wife both have gladiators, shes been having issues with hers, all different types of cords, both usb ports, and just got a new phone (thinking it would be the issue), it wasnt, shes still having issues. it will connect, then randomly lose connection, then back on, etc. and ours is Android, not Iphone.

Mine seems to be getting worse. Now when I back up then shift to go forward the screen shows the GUI around but the center is just black. Have to disconnect/reconnect to get it back. I might just have to bite the bullet and buy an after market.

The audio glitching every so often and the volume compensation at higher volume is not helping either. I am using the speaker level inputs on my AudioControl LC5.1300. You really notice the sound trying to prevent what was the factory speakers from distorting.
