cold weather package not coming on on remote starts

So its not happening every time but its enough to know something isn't right. When I use the remote start and its cold out (definitely below 40) the defrost is supposed to blow on high heat and the seats and steering wheel heat come on. It's not doing any of those and the temp reading on the display will say something like 42 degrees when I do get in even though its actually in the 20's. They are supposed to come on automatically below 40 degrees. And yes I have the settings correct on the display screen. Anyone else getting this? Any kind of reset I can try? I really don't want to mess with the hassle of taking it back to the dealer but that defrost comes in handy. 2022 Mojave

2022 JTR - I occasionally have the same issue, but I haven't decided if it's an actual problem yet or if I just haven't learned the system well enough. Curious to see what you might figure out. ??

On my 2021 I’ve notice that if the temperature on the dash doesn’t say it’s below 40, it won’t come on, regardless of what the actual outside temp is.

And, I too, have seen a couple of times where the Jeep thinks it’s like 60 and my watch (and common sense) told me it was really 10.

I think this happens when I part in the garage, and/or the outside temperature fell rapidly over the night and the last time my Jeep ran it was much warmer.

Doesn’t always happen. Most of the time it comes on and just works. But when it doesn’t, it’s alway because it doesn’t realize how cold it really is.

I think we're pretty much saying the exact same thing but I don't park in the garage. The temperature it was when I shut it off the night before shouldn't have any effect on it. It makes sense if I shut it off and start it back up a short time later that some residual heat from running could affect it but it should read the actual air temp if it's started cold.

Interesting, my rear defrost and heated seats always come on below 40 with remote start but never the front defrost.

Yeah, its definitely not the end of the world because the engine is heating up just not defrosting as fast as it could be if the defroster is blowing. Just being brand new everything should work the way its supposed to. Sounds like its not only me though

The temperature sensor is mounted too close to hot/warm engine components. It's getting artificially warm after driving, from the heat of the engine. I believe it's mounted close to the radiator.

This is why if the car isn't dead cold and sitting out for a day it will not show the correct temperature.

However, you can set your preferences in the menu to turn on heated seats and steering wheel every time remote start is used.

Isn’t there a (radio) menu for settings? I recall stumbling on something where I could activate passenger side seat heat on remote start..

It’s not just the seat but as I said earlier I have that turned on. It’s the defroster not coming on too like it should.
Btw, you can’t do anything with the passenger seat in the menu, only the drivers. The passenger seat needs programmed with a Tazer

This is exactly right, I have the same problem, the radiant heat from the engine/radiator hangs around for a while, and if I immediately close my garage door after I get home, that radiant heat will warm up the whole garage, as will the sun shining on the black roof of the garage. If jeep thinks it's 41 or more, it's not going to activate all the "im cold" stuff. If it's cold enough the garage will cool off in a couple hours and all will be well. But if it's only been an hour, I'll get in and it'll say 50ish or more, pull out of the garage and watch it drop like a rock.

Also I am not sure if it matters, but I always leave Auto enabled on the HVAC set to 68, I haven't had any issues with it doing the defroster on remote start.

I've never had this problem with remote start. Whenever I use it, all that cold weather stuff comes on automatically.

I never had any problem with the engine or steering either. Maybe my JT is a Unicorn?

I agree with @ilovebikes99 statement on heat soak of the outsider air thermistor. My past experience with other late mode FCA vehicles also leaves me to believe the thermistor sensor they use is lazy and slow to update when temp changes.

So I’ve noticed the same thing. What I found is that if you park and say it’s idk 15 outside and the engine is hot the air from under the hood may warm the sensor and trick the jeep into thinking it’s actually warmer then it is outside. .. happens even more so if I come home at 4pm and it’s day 35 out and the next morning it’s 10 my truck will think it’s 50 till I get moving and the sensor picks up the new ambient temp. It even effectively disables my high idle on my diesel. Drive a mile and it sees the cold and the outside air temp reads properly again. Next start it’ll work as desired.
