In the meantime, in a pinch
almost anything can be used
to prevent things from sliding around
in the bed of a truck.

A 2X4 in the Gladiator bed divider
is the first line of defense.

A floor mat, a leather glove,
even a stick or scrap of wood
placed under one side
can put the brakes on items
that have a mind of their own.

Take it from someone
who hates to wrestle
a 220 pound mineral tub
back onto a flatbed truck
in the middle of the road.
It takes two of us.

Zero. It did almost cost me one time. I bought a 5x25 Schmidt & Bender PMII scope. Told her it was on sale for $3200. List was $4000. She didn't see my logic. I said that she buys stuff all the time when it's on sale. I hardly buy anything. When I buy one thing on sale. You have a meltdown.
That is why me and the wife keep separate banking accounts.

It was my wife’s idea for me to buy a second Gladiator. I didn’t like driving the diesel on short trips and always took her Mercedes. She asked me why I didn’t buy a gas one to drive on short trips so I bought a Mojave. Definitely not the same woman I married but glad we made it to this part of the dance! And why do I care what she thinks? Well she is smart and is a big reason we can afford two Gladiators and a lot more!

(My first post, as a jeep owner) I bought Durabak-18 Textured Truck Bed Liner in bright RED. It matched my trim colors and my dashboard. I think it helped the looks, and I know it's going to help protect the bed. My wife strongly suggested black, but I just couldn't bring myself to become a lemming. I've always had a vision on what accessories would look like before I put them on and I think I'm justified in RED. She relented because the color really wouldn't matter when I put the retractable tonneau cover on. 6 hours of sanding, tapping, cleaning and two coats of textured bed paint later, here it is.

Part of jeep life is building YOUR RIG anyway that makes you happy. I dig it!

Looks good from here……I hope the newer DIY’s are better than the days of old.

I did the DIY Herculiner to a 96 Tacoma and the entire tub floor of a 94 YJ. What a PITA to apply it…. It did what it was intended to do for what it was (and the cost).
If you dragged anything heavy across it, it would scrape it off (easy to paint - touch ups). On the 96 Tacoma, I had a bed cover but did 2” over the rails that were exposed to the elements 24/7. That 2” area eventually got thin (down to the paint) after 2-3 years. So again, you had to buy a quart jar and repaint it.

If you use your truck ‘as a truck…. hauling things, etc. I’d consider getting a thick rubber bed mat so you don’t scrape the coating off.

If I had a beater rig, I’d do the DIY again. But for any trucks I buy new….Professional installed Line-X is just sooo much thicker.
Yeah, I'm dealing with "DYI bed liner" in my Comanche cab.. it protected the floor on topside more or less. And a real PTA to remove in some areas.
My first choice is commercial job done with bed liners. If it was going to be a straight up work truck hauling what ever I'd do a DYI and double the floor coatings at least. The Line-X one in my Comanche is/ has held up good.... Damn it's over 30 years old.
Red wouldn't be my first choice color but not my truck, not that I dislike it though. Easy to spot something on it, light colors would be good at night to light it up.

Dang…. Role reversal over here…. I very rarely buy anything. The hubby is always saying “Buy something nice for yourself”. Me: Nope…don’t need it!!
Something ‘nice’ means I’d need to click my heals together, wave my magic wand and have all the housework & laundry done, a butler would serve me champagne and a perfect lobster dinner. 🤣

But seriously…I’m more about ‘doing things’ and creating memories while wearing my favorite pair of jeans, t-shirt, and a sweatshirt. 😁
Everything is jointly… except our vehicles. 😉

If I didn't have the factory bedliner, this would convince me to opt for red.

OP, I am about to do this myself on my black JT. I bought vivid blue to go with all my other blue accents. Any tips or suggestions for me to make this a successful job? It seems pretty straightforward, I do need to research how to get the cargo loops off towards the front of the bed, but other than that I think I'm ready. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Colored bedliner on my 4runner for going on 5 years now, no fade, holds up to branches great, we did this color to match our old FJ Cruiser.

Jeep Gladiator COLORED Truck bed coating, I love the color, wife was dead set against it, I won. (Actually, she allowed it) 20230926_165945

Ditto, if I want to invest it in my Jeep I do . If she wants to waste it on her hair and nails she can. Guess which I think is more important
