Yesterday morning I left my house in Shawnee, OK driving my 2022 Gladiator heading to Katy, TX (450 miles one way) and when I was 11 miles from my destination (according to Maps on my phone) I got the regen message!!

Today around noon I left my house in my 2018 Grand Cherokee heading to Ft. Worth (178 miles one way) and when I was returning home and less than 5 miles from home I got the DAMN region message!!

Why the hell can't the damn computer(s) in these vehicles notice I'm close to my destination and wait to regain during the next drive. The computer(s) on vehicles do all kinds of stuff so in my little mind they should be able to know my driving habits. Or at the very least give me a warning that I need to do a regen and ask if I want to preform now or wait x number of miles.

I understand the system reacts a certain level and needs to do it but I cannot even begin to guess the number of times this happens to me when I'm fixing to get off the hwy or almost to my destination.

I will be ordering the GDE 'after-life' tune for the Grand Cherokee this week and will be ordering for the Gladiator in a little of 52K miles.

Mine starts to regen when I'm about 2 miles from home returning from work. So I have to keep driving until it's finished.

I also have a 2022. I’ve never got a message about regen. Is there a way to turn that notification on or do you have something aftermarket?

I don't monitor regens for this reason. It would drive me crazy to see the regen come on as soon as I pull into the driveway. Thankfully, I haven't had any issues by ignoring the regens. Our 2015 Ram EcoDiesel is bone stock. At 11 years and 134,000 miles, the emissions system still functions fine, and all of my oil analysis reports come back good. The same for our 2020 Ram EcoDiesel and 2023 Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesel. From that perspective, I think FCA (Ram and Jeep) did a good job with the tuning.

Owners/operators monitor using aftermarket devices or tuning.

Not knowing sometimes is a good thing. Before I got my iBanks gauge, I never knew if I was in regen except at times I would get home and when in park the idle seemed a little higher, and the engine smelled "hot". Turning the engine off during a regen is no big deal, unless you're only doing short trips and you continue to shut it off while it's trying to regen. Ideally, hitting regen while driving is the best, as it goes pretty quick.

I also never got regen messages but I could smell once in a while when one was happening... I just ignored it, honestly. Didn't have any problems.

I don't have to worry about them at all, anymore.

Correct. If you did enough short trips and/or high idle time, then you might eventually get the dash message to take the vehicle on the highway to complete a regen. I've had that happen once on the Jeep Gladiator and a few times on the 2015 Ram 1500. It usually happens in the winter months when it's already hard to get the engine up to temperatures to initiate the regen to begin with. Overall, FCA did a good job with the emissions design and tuning parameters considering the tough restrictions they have to work with.

I have the EPA compliant GDE tune on both Jeeps and the regen I'm referring to is the one that comes up on the dash screen telling you to keep driving. I would get this message before I got the GDE tune as well so it's not aftermarket.
