Just like the title, what's the thing that would sadly make the JT a no-go for you when it's announced?

I keep thinking of the things I want and have convinced myself that I'll be going JT no matter what next year, but realistically... if this is a 50k+ truck I'll give it second thoughts. I'm also on the fence about how much room I'm willing lose in the back seat and how easily I can turn the bed into an overlanding platform.

What'll they have to screw up to make you go somewhere else? (Again, not looking for complaints about timeline or diesel availability.)

i think cost & limited payload are big for me
this pic is 2200kg on the back of my old cj10 now im not suggesting the jt should be able to do that but we do tend to push things a bit down here
cheers ian

If it costs anywhere near a 19 Silverado LT Z71 with the turbo inline 6, I wont even think about it. I think the Silverado MSRP will be 55k and eventually marked down with rebates and discounts to under 45k. The 2018 Lariat 4x4 with diesel can be had for 50k now, MSRP is around 58k.

Price. I went by my local dealership the other day and asked about it and the rep said they expect a well equipped diesel Rubicon to be north of $70k. He might not know crapola but he also might. That is way too rich for my blood. I'm leaning towards a used JK and wait for used JTs to start to hit the market in a few years.

No diesel at launch (ie have to wait till end of 2019) and Im out 100% thats factor #1 for me.

Factor #2 is price. If we are at $55K OTD, and I can get a new Ford F-150 Raptor for $60-62K Im going with the Ford Raptor. Its just a lot more vehicle, and I don't need SFA as Im going to be Overlanding not crawling. I'll miss the open top and the the unique looks (I think the AEV Brute is one of the most bad ass looking trucks there is), but if price is that close and I can have more capacity (load wise), more room (interior wise), and better on road ride (most of my trips out of Boise are 4-6 hour rides), plus a engine with a TON of power its hard to talk myself into the JT.

I hope FCA reads threads like this. I don't think it will change their minds but it should show them where their base resides.

As almost everyone has said price. Rubicons are already approaching $60K. You can get a ZR2 for less than that price already. If the pickup version adds much additional cost and you are approaching Raptor and Power Wagon pricing. Both those trucks will be roomier and provide more towing and payload capability while also having the ability to leave the pavement. Yes the Jeep will have removable top.doors and be able to fit on smaller trails, but I would probably have to live without the open air experience at that price
