Seeking some information from forum members who are running or have ran Cooper SST PRO’s. Have a chance of picking up a set of four new 37x13.50r17’s for $1500.00. Question is are they louder than a A/T of the same size but less than a M/T. I’m guessing they are loud. They are classified as an R/T in between both. They seem to have bigger lugs and I am concerned about wear, I do rotate every 5K religiously. I do daily my JTR and noise and wear are my biggest concerns, don’t care about gas mileage. Actual size is important also, seems all manufacturers run smaller than advertised, BFG’s being the worst of the offenders. I am currently running 35x12.50r17” Toyo Open Country A/T’s with a 2” Mopar lift, on 17x 9” AEV rims. Should have went with 37’s out of the gate to begin with. Have had Cooper car tires and they wore great. So this is why I’m asking owners past and present for insight, good or bad, please don’t hold back! Thanks in advance, Joel

I have them on my wife's Wrangler. They are louder than my General Grabber X3's (Gladiator) and her previous Falken Wildpeak MT's. I would not consider them an RT. They are a full on MT. That said, they do look good and the noise doesn't bother me. It's there and you can hear it but eh, not so bad you can't talk.

My first MT, but they definitely are loud. They seem pretty bulletproof, true to size, but I don’t feel like I’ve gone over any rocky obstacles that my friends with A/Ts couldn’t do also. Thinking about doing the Thompson A/T next time, although a couple friends have also had sidewall tears with the Thompsons. May be incidental/anecdotal…

Ran 35s on my last LJ. Not a bad tire, didn’t really notice noise but didn’t care, just wanted something good on trails. Having said that, I put Kenda Klevers R/Ts in 35s on my 2022 Gladiator.. After doing 3 days of trails in Ouray, I am sold on the Kendas.

I have them on my JT. Best off road tires I've had yet. They are good at everything I've thrown at them from rock crawling in Moab to the slick changing terrain of TN. They are awesome in mud. The road noise is negligible to me. I actually think they're pretty tame for a MT. But I have a rag top so everything is noisy in the cab. Mine are 37 12.5 17's and I paid around $500 each for mine. $1500 is a great deal.

I had 35s on my LJ and I liked them better than the BFG KM2s. That opinion was shared by several others.
I now have BFG KM3s and will try to find those Coopers, however my source stopped selling them when Cooper was sold. I suspect the lower price advantage compered to BFGs is probably the reason.
All that had the Coopers thought the tire was stronger and stiffer than any BFG. A good thing for off road.

I run them (40x13.50x17) on my TJ and they work great on and off road. They also perform better on snow and ice and are quieter than the BFG KM2 they replaced. The TJ isn't my daily driver, but I have been running them for five years and they are wearing evenly and do great on the trails here in Colorado also.

I currently run these STT Pros on two of my rigs. 37x13.50 17 on my F250 and my JT has 38x13.50 20.
On the SuperDuty they are very loud and have worn extremely quickly for as little as I drive it.
They are also cupping something wicked, even on the rear, but I'm sure that is a fault of my suspension and steering with an 8 inch lift.
They are a little quieter on the JT, as someone else mentioned the wind noise seems to overcome the tread noise or at least equal.
Honestly it annoys me in both trucks.
I would have to say something that gets me with these tires on both is the vibration at lower speeds like coming to a stop or under 20 or so around town, I can feel the tread and with daily driving the JT it's an issue. I know I can't blame the tires when I daily 38inch mud terrains (yes they are a mud terrain, or should be anyway).
These look amazing and they have been excellent on and off road with only one low speed slip and slide moment on wet road but again that could have been my own fault for hot rodding my Ford.
In short i like everything about these except the noise and wear. I will be looking into a different brand when it's time though.

I ran them for about 40k miles on a 2014 jk 4-dr sport I had. They felt unstoppable off-road. There were several times when wheeling with my friends (who had rubicons and locking axles) that my jeep seemed to fair better. Especially the "wheels on the ground" slippery stuff. But, they seemed a little louder than the more AT style KO2s or Falkens I ran on other vehicles. Also, in the winter, they were not as good. They have big chunky lugs and only a few sipes. Definately a more off-road/mud/rock type tire. Not sure I would put them on a daily driver again. But if I was going out into the "outback" for an extended trip they would be one of my first choices. Super tough tire carcass.

Tires are always going to have some tradeoffs depending on what your use is.

I have had 2 sets of Cooper STT Pro AT's on 2 different vehicles. Loved them! Just a little heavier than some of the other selections. But quieter than an MT. I would recommend going the AT vs the MT just because of the versatility.

What’s work?
I’ve run Cooper STTs on anything with a lift for well over a decade, like 15ish years now, hell maybe more. Hands down best tire ever run. For off road which is the primary use are nearly bullet proof, dig into anything loose like shale or rock gardens in trails don’t phase the tire. Knock the wind down to 10 pounds and will traverse mud and/or snow easily. I can safely call myself a fan boy. Other tires are very good as well, but Ive got hands on experience and untold miles logged on STTs. In all those years have never failed one that couldn’t be repaired. They are indeed noisy and they prefer an overall lower air pressure on paved surface. I’ve found they seem pretty happy at 30 to no more than 33ish(mounted on Grand Cherokees). For a daily driver personally I wouldn’t run them. It’s a waste of a very capable tire and in the end will kill it off prematurely unless you will utilize the tire frequently in the wild where it wants to be. If it is just a offroady look then well do whatever you want.

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to reply to this thread with honest and factual advice about these tires. I believe I am going to pass on these tires, even though they are bad ass! I knew they would be loud but spending the money on a set of tires that would be daily driven and wear quickly, I believe I will just stick to A/T’s. I believe the price was clouding my judgement. Again thank you all for snapping me back to reality!
