My Mojave is about to expire next July. Given your experience, who would you recommend for the inspection? I want to find a trustworthy person to inspect it and take care of any warranty repairs.

It depends on your location and dealership. My local dealership had their own body shop so the dealership handled everything on mine. For dealers without their own body shop it sounds like you have to get a quote from some body shops. The first stop would be the dealership who would do the initial inspection to see if it is covered under warranty and then give you the next steps.

This is correct. It has to go through the dealer first for approval.
I took mine in last month. Took 20 minutes for the claims guy to inspect and take pictures. He approved on the spot and gave me the paint and body place contact they use. Waiting on the parts to come in now.

Curious, did you happen to see corrosive behind the paint, or let the dealership look at it?

Yes, spotted it under the tailgate a couple years ago. Waited until the final warranty year per advise I got on this forum, to see if more cropped up. It did. The hood started showing corrosion last winter. They said they will replace the hood and tailgate.

Check with local dealers. You'll probably get an idea who to use and who not to.

The first local dealer I tried was Yark in Toledo, where I bought the Jeep new. They told me 6-12 month wait and my warranty would expire while waiting. Made it pretty easy to leave this place and try another dealer.

Second dealer I tried was Charlie's Dodge. They said 2 weeks once they get it scheduled and it would be a warranty job. They took care of it and made it easy.

I also tried another dealer that didn't have a body shop. Wanted them to sub it to my friend's shop. They wouldn't do it. Told me to go to a Jeep dealer with a body shop.

Yep dealership. Some dealerships without their own body shops have an agreement with dealerships nearby that do. Consult with the Jeep dealer first to see where you need to take it. My local Jeep dealer does all body work through the Ford dealer. They do great work too!!!!

Just got mine back from the dealer who self performed the repair. Be forewarned, the new hood is no longer aluminum and weighs a ton. I’d be inclined to ask if they can do an aftermarket hood. It’s incredible how much heavier the hood is and now the lift spring doesn’t lift it at all.

Do you have the part # of the hood you got?

I got part #68766102AA and it’s a heavy as hell steel hood. Just repaired June 2026.

Your post made me check. Thanks for mentioning this.

Just had my rear recovery hook and bumper assembly replaced under warranty. I went to my local dealer, they took care of everything.

Was your Gladiator exposed to salt in the winter? Just curious as salt is a huge issue around here in the winter. My 2019 Rubicon turned into a blistery mess. My new Gladiator is in Florida.

The huge issue is the paint quality on Jeeps.

My 2019 JL Rubicon had both doors and hinges, the hood and hinges, the windshield frame and tailgate replaced with new. Everything except the front fenders and roof were repainted @ 42,000 miles. Took 18 months to get into the dealers shop and 3 weeks plus to complete the work. Not real happy with the work quality and had to go back twice for fixes. Dealer said their warranty claim with Jeep was almost $17,000. I Finally sold it.

My 2021 JT Mojave was showing corrosion at all four door hinges @ 49,000 miles. Not going through the same mess again. I Sold it and bought a 2026 JT. Im spraying the inside of the doors, hood and tailgate with corrosion preventative.

Both of the vehicles were well cared for. Regular wash, wax and detailing. It’s not a matter of if the corrosion will occur, it’s only a matter of when.

Find a good shop and get in line.

Unfortunately, I don't know if a corrosion treatment will work, as it's my understanding that it's a prep/adhesion issue with the aluminum. Ford had the same problems when they introduced thier aluminum bodied F150's.
My 2022 Sport S is going in next week. Hood and tailgate only.
