I just installed 2 Rydeen Tombo 360x units along with their turn camera system, modified to be a front/rear trail camera system. It's pricy, but the proximity sensor recording while parked, plus the 360° view really sold me on it. Both of our Jeeps have it now. They're currently on sale. https://a.co/d/1H3Q2B5
We had one unit graciously given to us by @WILDHOBO and picked up the second from @mountainpass. The company is based in California.

From our side conversations, you installed it better than I did by leaps and bounds. I can’t wait to hear how it works on a trail.

Black Vue and Thinkware are the leaders in the industry for quality and reliability.

I've had the Black Vue DR900s dual camera system in a couple cars for years and it's survived the extreme heat and cold.

Previously had random Chinese brands and they all die eventually from the heat.

You'll have to make a run to the border, Big Bend, and we can test it out. Again, many thanks for the gift. Much appreciated.

And it’s amazing .
It was not cheap. However it’s a very low profile camera takes up very little window space. WiFi connection can be wonky if you are on your home WiFi.

@WILDHOBO is a good resource for that specific unit. He installed it and has done a few trail runs. Here's some video.

Funny you mentioned that cause I've already been picking his brain in advanced and will be likely leaning on his assistance soon!

Ozark overland has one that looks good but can't remember the name. I want to add a front trail cam to mine and have the Tazer and the 8.0 radio so I can just add a camera . But, I hate the OnX off-road so might add a Garmin tread with a camera. Just not sure what to do.

If you've never seen this guy (Project Farm) your head might spin for a minute trying to keep up. Dash cams evolve rapidly, so this comparison from 8 months ago might be a bit out of date already. But it's good to see lots of results compared in one place, and get a good sense of how to evaluate different units. It was interesting that some of the "4K" units do worse than 1440p ones, maybe just because their smaller pixels do so much worse in low light - or just that a cheap 4K sensor can be outperformed by a higher-grade 1440 one. Or maybe if the lens only produces 1440 worth of detail, what's the point putting a 4K sensor behind it

( I don't have any dash cam yet, but probably will go with some Viofo or another as those really do seem to be the standard)

I also use BlackVue cameras on all my vehicles. And always the 2-channel so front and rear are filming at all times (in the event someone rear ends me and then leaves the scene).

Garmin mini 3
$99 through tonight

I have the original mini 5 years and now the 3

for the price it’s great and you can watch it on your phone

If you leave a $200-500 dash cam in your car and it gets stolen You will be upset, the garmin mini is $99 today so if it gets stolen who cares.

If you want bigger and fancier go for it, but in the meantime spend $99 and see if it works for you.

you can also use it on your back glass on a 2 camera system.

It is tiny enough to fit in your pocket, and you can’t say that about the big ones.

Hope this helps

Jeepers……

I am going to ask for a dash camera for Christmas. I have a 2023 Gladiator eco diesel. Those of you who have Gladiators with dash cams….what are you using and how do you like it?
I saw a dash cam that attaches to the rear view mirror and integrates into the interior design of the vehicle. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with that model and if you like it or not.

Happy holidays
I have a couple I have tried on my 23, but have settled on a cheap chinesium mirror mounted one from Walmart.
While it works fine, it's wideness prevents deployment of the standard sunvisor's.
I also have one with four channels that suction-mounts to the glass, but due to the nearly 90 degree angle of the windshield, articulation of the camera angle was obscured to viewing the hood only.
It works GREAT on the Compass with its raked back windscreen.

I installed a RAM mount for the Glad dash with slots for bolts & balls to mount a go pro style recorder that I have yet to decide upon.

Great luck with your search & choice.
Hopefully this reply will steer you on what NOT to buy.

One pleasant caveat;
I have been hit four times in other vehicles with mounted dash cams.
Just the presence of one witnessed by the other driver can bring forth the truth.
On the other three hits, I asked the responding LEO to get the other driver's story (first) & then come look at the recording of the incident.
I just love the look in their eyes when asked if they would care to change (correct) their story.
Got cleared on all of the above.
Those collisions occurred in dark silver/gray mettalic vehicles that may have been difficult to see.
All my current Jeeps are now Bright White like my shiny oops.
