DEFECTIVE TRANSFER CASE on Diesel Rubicon

Ok kind of reviving a dead thread here, but has anyone put their transfer case in 4 low, shifted from neutral to drive, but the jeep is in reverse? Like not coasting like still in neutral, but in reverse?

Had a scare today after hearing an ominous pop earlier that I can only assume was my swaybar disconnecting when my wheels were turned and slightly flexed.

I managed to get it in 4L and drive and smashed that tiny hill.

It was still an odd experience.

That sounds odd for sure.
update on mine:
Has been working well for two years. Off road trips every 2-3 months.
Just went to Big Levels and got the “service 4WD system” on the dash. Taking it in tomorrow.
