The following morning was early. Very early. 0-dark-30 early. The intent was to hike Doris peak, less than half the elevation as Great Northern, and less miles as well, to get a good sunrise view. And a sunrise view it was!
Hiking in the dark in griz country is really not the smartest choice. But like Great Northern, it was a one time thing.
And what a view it was. With a nice little surprise too, if you can see the shiny piece of brass below.
I always love finding these monuments
And as the alpenglow hit the peaks
The flowers and bees began to wake up
Soon the rose to the sky
So it was time to head back down
Not before stopping at the lake for some coffee though!
And so ends another awesome weekend! Only possible thanks to the Jeep and a good camping setup.
